Ch.3 | Angel's Word

I'm seven and it's been about two or three months since my birthday, and that means it's finally the day, the day these "Angels" or whatnot come to assess our potential, which I am guessing it's our potential to wield a holy weapon.

For that I got to leave my small little box, obviously, I knew that this would take part early in the morning, so I took out all of the evidence that showed that I might be eating there.

The nun in charge of me gave me a dirty look as we were put in a line to be tested. I yawned and put my hands behind my head.

A man with long blond hair and a feminine face came to see us, he was wearing white robes and was called Michael, he was definitely the guy from DxD, which meant that yes, an angel came to check our aptitude with holy swords, and most likely unholy swords as well, if one has a holy aptitude they'll be hailed as a hero, and if it's an unholy he or she will get sacked from the orphanage, that's what I'm predicting.

Why?

Simple.

The orphanage is getting more and more crowded, and they are running out of supplies and food to give us, meaning that they need people to leave, but most of the children here are around the same age, with the oldest being nine right now. The best way to get rid of these children is adoption, but the nuns can't make anyone normal adopt these children, after all this is no normal orphanage. It's one connected to the supernatural, so they'd have to remove the memories of the children, magic which is most likely taboo since it messes with the nature of children, either that or the nuns can't use it. After all, they would use it on me if they could so I would become the ideal child.

That means the best option is to either transfer the children or kick them out.

"Xenovia Lardon!" the nun in front called on Xenovia, she was right in front of me, I saw her go up to the golden-winged pigeon and touch his small crystal orb. I saw the orb light up in a golden light.

"Ah! She's been blessed by God!" I heard one of the nuns yell as they saw Michael smile at the girl in front of him.

Honestly, some would call that smile warm, others -- mainly me -- would think that smile looked creepy as hell and made him seem like a child molester or something.

"We will speak later ok Xenovia?" said the angel loudly enough for all of us to hear, making me roll my eyes.

"Next is..." the nun stopped making me smirk, she looked at me with so much disgust and annoyance that it was obvious she wanted me to get unholy as my attribute. Too bad for her, because knowing that annoying god, he either gave me the holy attribute to fuck with me, he could also give me the unholy attribute to fuck with me, but the unholy attribute is what I want since it would force the orphanage to kick me out with some monetary support.

Either that or

"John Silver!" called the nun, making me get out of my thinking box and walk up front to where Michal was.

"Hello John" he whispered, making me nod.

"Yo." I greeted, making the angel smile. He isn't getting pissed at my attitude, he is quite patient. But then again, patience is a virtue.

"You seem to have quite the wild spirit," he said with a small chuckle. I rose my eyebrows.

"Please touch this orb," he said, showing the same crystal orb Xenovia had touched, it was almost completely transparent except for a small white swirl inside the orb. I touched it and saw as absolutely nothing happened.

"Huh...?" Michael looked at the orb, blinking and rubbing his eyes. He took my hand off the orb and then placed it on the orb once again.

"That's weird... is the orb defective?" he questioned making me internally shake my head. Nope, it's not.
