I was stirred out of my unconscious state by the irritating beeping of my alarm. Seriously, I really needed to change it to something more soothing. Maybe then I wouldn't be such a grump in the mornings.

I felt around for the source of the beeping and turned it off before slowly prying my eyes open. My room was so dark I could barely make out anything but my hand which was inches from my face. It took a while for me to remember why I was waking up at such a stupid time in the morning. The cruise.

"Kendall!" my younger brother screamed, running into my room and leaping onto my bed, only just missing me.

"Jesus Hunter you nearly squished me," I groaned, glaring at the way-too-perky thirteen year old.

"Get up get up get up!" he crowed, tickling me out of the cozy, warm sheets and onto the cold floorboards.

"I'm gonna kill you," I growled, stumbling to my feet and lunging for my brother who narrowly slipped through my fingers with an evil grin.

"You have to catch me first," he teased, racing out the door.

I hurried after him, my socks making me slip and slide on the glossy floorboards which made him cackle. He rounded into the kitchen and I slowed, casually strolling into the room, not wanting to be screamed at by my parents quite yet. I locked eyes with my mum and smirked at Hunter, rubbing it in that his plan to get me in trouble failed.

"I'm shocked to say the least! I was starting to think we'd be dragging you out in your pyjamas," mum said, taking a sip of her tea and laughing at my unamused expression.

"Have some breakfast sweetie," she smiled, pushing a plate stacked with waffles and berries on it towards me.

"You trying to fatten me up?" I asked, hopping up onto one of the bar stools that was pushed under the kitchen bench.

"You're already fat enough," Hunter cut in.

I glared at him and he grinned, sticking his tongue out at me. My dad chuckled slightly from his place by the waffle maker and mum gave him a look that shut him up immediately.

"You're beautiful baby girl, Hunter's just jealous," mum told me.

I rolled my eyes. For what reason would a thirteen year old be jealous of his seventeen year old sister? He couldn't be jealous of my long black hair or bra size, so mum's comment was a flop and only made Hunter laugh harder.

"If you keep laughing we'll take a  detour past Grandma's and leave you there for the week," dad barked at Hunter, making him shut up.

Mum and I chuckled and I dug into my waffles and berries, grateful that I was at least getting a good breakfast. Mum and dad had thought it would be a great idea to take us on a cruise for a week, forgetting that Hunter got seasick at the mention of the word 'boat' and I had intense claustrophobia. I'd been fretting over the trip for the last week, but my friends had eventually convinced me it might not be so bad, and I might meet a cute rich guy who'd fall in love with me. Yeah, it was a ridiculous thought but there was a part of me that still hoped. It would make the whole thing bearable at least.

I pushed my half finished breakfast towards mum and hopped off my seat.

"You not going to have any more?" mum asked with arched eyebrows.

"It's three in the morning woman, I'm not that hungry," I told her.

She nodded and handed the plate to my dad who finished my waffles off for me. Hunter was still on his first waffle, more interested in playing with him food than actually eating it. Typical.
