Present
Bright jolted awake at the sound of his phone ringing that was buried somewhere under his multiple layers of comforters. After aimlessly searching for the device, he brought it up to his face, squinted at the sudden glare of the screen and grunted when he saw the time and caller.
"It's seven in the morning, Tay Tawan, what the hell do you need?"
"Please come with me to that golf event!" His sleep ruiner cousin urgently begged.
"Huh?"
"That golf tournament for charity!"
"Alai? I thought you already had a plus one?"
"Well something came up and now he can't attend with me!"
"Not my problem. B---"
"I don't know if I can take a whole afternoon being alone there!"
Bright rolled his eyes, "Some of our friends will be there. Don't be dramatic."
Tay was such a social butterfly that he might combust if he didn't get to talk someone's ear off in an hour. A complete opposite of Bright.
"No, they're not! Off and Gun are in Europe doing Buddha knows what. Billkin and PP will be too busy staring at each other, which leaves me, well, alone and no one to talk to! Besides this is for charity, have mercy on the kids!" Tay babbled, "You're invited too, anyway!"
"I already donated, you dingus."
"Please dude. I'll owe you one. Uhhh, how about I let you borrow my McLaren for the whole week?" Tay persisted.
"..."
"Err---The whole month?"
"I have my own McLaren. No, thank you."
"Fuck! Why do we both have everything?"
"Why do you even wanna go? It's not like you're gonna compete."
"Because I like to watch golf, duh!? Please, Vachirawit. Please. Please. Please."
Bright pinched his nose, irritated that he had to deal with this so early in the morning. Tay rarely forced him to go places outside of work, respecting his introversion and aversion for hi-so events that took new heights in the past couple of years so he deduced that he was likely his cousin's last resort. But then he also knew very well that when Tay begged, he didn't take no for an answer and would only pester him til he relented. And so like any other introvert forced to come out of their shell and socialize, "Fine! Pick me up at one."

Clothed in tan khaki shorts, Ralph Lauren polo shirts, black baseball caps, and loafers, the heirs of Chivaaree Investment Corporation walked in Summit Windmill Golf Club, where about 100 of others hi-sos like them will be betting on and watching 40 hi-so golfers compete for their choice of charity.
The two engaged in small talks with some business partners and people their age along the way to the party tents set up overlooking the golf course, despite Bright's sullen mood.
"Remind me to drag our parents next time to this, will you?" Tay muttered under his breath, getting worn out himself. He wanted nothing more than to sit already, but some hi-sos (mostly women) just kept coming their way. Bachelor things, he guessed.
