Time had passed since that last order.

After such a fantastic war, Kairi Sisigou had officially retired from the Moonlit World. Partly because he did not need money anymore, and also because it would bring nothing but misfortune in his new life.

Now he simply relaxed as the days passed. Luckily, it wasn't all that boring, as he didn't do so alone.

Kairi: Looks like it's about to finish.

Reika: Mmm-Hmm.

There they were, in front of an elementary school located in a certain city in Japan. It wouldn't be long until the last bell rung.

Reika: It's ironic that we chose this city to live in. Isn't this where you said the last war took place?

Kairi: And that's why people tend to avoid it. 'Sides, it's not bad to be in your native country after a long journey, is it?

Reika: And what a journey it's been... Who would have thought that we'd reach this outcome?

He constantly asked himself that question as well. Not even in his wildest dreams had he thought that he would be standing where he was.

Hell, they themselves were surprised at how things turned out between them. A shared cigarette here, a few hours of talking there, and before they knew it... Well, there they were.

Not that they were complaining, though. They understood one another just fine.

Kairi: Guess some things never change.

Reika: Maybe it's because some things are fine just as they are.

Kairi: Yeah. Things would be easier if everyone understood that.

The bell was ringing, signaling the end of the first day. It didn't take long for many children to pour out of the entrance doors.

Forsaking their cigarettes, both of them stood up and quickly found what they were looking for. Two innocent souls approached them with smiles that could light up the night sky.

Jack: Mother!

Reika: Hello, Jack. How was your first day?

Jack: It was amazing! We made lots of friends and played together! Isn't that right, Hikari?

Hikari Sisigou smiled at her father, and he couldn't help but return it, not that he wouldn't have if he could.

Hikari: We did, we did! Dad! I played a prank on the teacher!

Kairi: Did you get caught?

Hikari: Nope!

Kairi: Then the first day was a resounding success. Come on, let's celebrate with some dessert.

Hikari/Jack: Ice cream!

Kairi: Well, boss' orders. Ice cream it is.

His daughter whooped as Kairi picked her up and placed her on his shoulders. Jack and her mother happily followed along.

Hikari: Hey, Dad, can you tell me another of your stories? I really liked The Angry Knight.

Kairi: Heh. Yeah, I'm told it's a classic. Well, I think I've got one for this occasion.

Hikari: What's it about?

Kairi: Hmm... It's about two visitors from beyond the stars and their adventures together. It's based on a true story, that one.

Hikari: Really?! You're kidding!

Jack: Nope! It's all true!

Kairi: Mmm-Hmm. By the way, Tsubaki, we're meeting up with a friend at the ice cream store.
