Batman: Shadow Of XANA

Chapter Eight - Assault On Lyoko

As Batman began making his way back to the Factory, Jeremy was coordinating the Lyoko Warriors to the activated Tower located in the Mountain Sector. As the Lyoko Warriors continued making their way to the Tower, there was no sign of XANA's monsters.

Odd: Hey Einstein! Where's the welcoming committee? Don't tell me Batman scared them off!

Jeremy(Voice): I'm not seeing any activity so far, but that doesn't mean XANA isn't planning something. Be on your guard.

Aelita: How far is the Tower?

Jeremy: That much further. Continue moving south and you should be able to reach the Tower.

With that, the Lyoko Warriors continued making their way to the activated Tower. As they got closer to the Tower, a Black Manta was seen flying above them. Without hesitation, the Lyoko Warriors hid behind cover. Ulrich peaked out to see William Dunbar riding on top of it.

Ulrich: Great. William's here. And here I thought this was going to be easy.

Jeremy(Voice): I'm picking up massive XANA activity near the Tower. If William's here, then you all need to be extra careful. If we don't activate the Tower, there's no telling what kind of damage XANA will do with the Ion Cortex.

Yumi: Have you heard anything about Batman? Or from Kadic?

Jeremy(Voice): Batman just contacted me. He was able to stop XANA's spectres, but there's a group of them heading to the Factory as we speak. Batman's gonna try to hold them off, but we need to deactivate the Tower as soon as possible.

As Jeremy said that, the Lyoko Warriors moved cautiously as they got closer to the Tower. Once the Tower was in sight, the Lyoko Warriors took cover as they spotted William leading a swarm of XANA's monsters. The swarm mainly consisted of Tarantulas with groups of Bloks, Krabs, Megatanks and Hornets acting as support.

Ulrich: There's your welcoming committee, Odd. Looks like XANA's throwing a party.

Yumi: There's no way we can take out all of those monsters. As soon as we step out, William and those monsters will swarm on us.

As the Lyoko Warriors tried to come up with an approach, Aelita notices something about the Tower's location. She spots a small mountain pass overlooking Tower. Aelita soon had an idea as she got on her knees and began to sang a melody much to the confusion of the other Lyoko Warriors.

Odd: You've got a great singing voice, but I don't think that's a good idea when we've got a bunch of XANA's monsters ready to take us out.

Aelita continued singing as it soon caught the attention of William and XANA's monsters. Meanwhile, the mountain pass began to shake. Soon enough, a rock slide is created. The resulting rock slide crushes a good portion of XANA's monsters. However, William was now alerted to the position of the Lyoko Warriors.

William: After them!

With that, the Lyoko Warriors were now locked in an intense battle against William and what remained of XANA's forces. William led the charge as the Lyoko Warriors made their stand against XANA's forces.

Odd: Looks like we've really kicked the hornet's nest, haven't we?! Ah XANA. You and your welcoming committees.

As Odd said this, William lunges at Odd and attacks him with Zweihänder. Before William could land the strike on Odd, Ulrich steps in and blocks the sword with his two Katanas.

Ulrich: Don't even think about it, William!

A duel broke out between William and Ulrich. As the two dueled, Aelita along Yumi and Odd held their own against what remained of XANA's monsters. Though Aelita's earlier attack destroyed a good portion of XANA's forces, a large portion of XANA's forces remained. During the firefight, but Odd and Yumi got hit with both losing 20 Life Points in the process.

Yumi: Aelita, you need to get to the Tower! We'll hold off XANA's monsters!

Odd: You know something? If Batman were here, he'd probably wipe the floor with these guys!

Yumi: Seriously?! Now's not the time to nerd out about Batman! He's doing his job so we can do ours!

Odd: Left shoulder!

As Odd said that, Yumi ducked as Odd fired at a Hornet that was hovering above Yumi's left shoulder. Yumi returns the favor by throwing one of her Tessan Fans at one of the Krabs that was about to fire on the two of them. Meanwhile, Aelita attempts to run to the tower, but William was quick to spot her.

William: Super Smoke!

William transforms into a sentient cloud of vantablack smoke and goes after Aelita. Jeremy sees this on the Supercomputer and warns Aelita.

Jeremy(Voice): Aelita! William's coming after you!

Before Aelita could react, William pops up in front of her and paralyzes her with his smoke. William lets out a sinister laugh as he raises his sword, ready to devituralize her. Before he could land the hit, Ulrich uses Super Sprint to run at William and attacks him with his Katanas.

Ulrich: I'm not done with you, William!

As Aelita recovered from William's attack, Ulrich reengaged William in a duel just as more of XANA's monsters converged on Aelita's position, pinning her down. In that moment, the Lyoko Warriors were locked in a stalemate against William and XANA's monsters. As the Lyoko Warriors' efforts to deactivate the Tower were stalled, the remaining Polymorphic Spectres of Batman's Villains were closing in on the Factory with the Ion Cortex. As the Lyoko Warriors were locked in a stalemate against XANA's forces, Batman was doing everything he can to stop XANA's Polymorphic Spectres from enacting XANA's plans for the Ion Cortex.
