Flashback

Cory's POV:

With it being the early wits of the morning, the crew and I stood huddled in the school parking lot.

In the midst of us discussing our last run-in with BM, we were met by a few of our classmates from the team.

"Y'all asses ready to finish off tha' season with a W?" Jamal our offensive linemen began to hype as he dabbed us up.

"Hell yeah nigga! Question is, are you ready?" Tyrone hit his chest just before folding his arms. "Cause the way you been catchin' these last two games ain't been lookin' too hot." The rest of us laughed just as Jamal smacked his lips.

"Man shut up! You just bitchin' cause ole girl got ya dick wrapped in ya rubbas." We laughed once again as they began to wrestle each other.

"Shiddd he ain't lyin." Xavier whispered over to me while Dre and another teammate of ours pulled them off of each other.

Between the both of them, especially Tyrone, they were known for their reckless behavior. Playing it safe wasn't ideal.

With the shake of my head, I looked away ready to start up a conversation with Sean though he seemed to be occupied just a well.

At least his eyes were...

Beginning to skim the school parking lot, my eyes fell on Deshia closing her car door. She wore a red collard shirt tucked into a pair of pressed khakis matched with a pair of chucks.

Talk about tomboy. I grimaced to myself.

Throwing my arm on top of E's shoulder, I mentally brought him out of his gaze. "Whatcha staring at big fella?" I asked with a low pitch.

"Nun ya." He quickly replied. Obviously not bothered by being caught.

"Well my brotha, dotcha think it's a wee bit rude to be staring at ye ole lady over dhere." I continued playfully with a country accent.

"Maybe I like what I see." He shot back moving his shoulder up and down forcing me to drop my arm.

"Aye, that's my little sister you talkin' bout." Dre added obviously overhearing us.

"Yeah yeah." Sean shrugged off as if he hadn't heard it before.

"Be mindful of yo eyes nigga." Dre cautioned once again.

Making a yikes face as Dre turned away, Sean simply rolled his eyes. Patting Sean's back I insinuated for him not to get all cooked up.

I could already gauge how he was feeling.

Although it was normal for us to be protective of each other and our loved ones, lately Dre had been showing back and forth emotions about Sean pursuing Deshia.

One day he was betting with Tyrone about how long it would take them to get together and the next he was in big brother mode.

It was defensiveness at its finest.

As if Sean couldn't be enough for Deshia if something were to happen.

It had never been my prerogative to pry into Dre's business, but I believed there was more to him and Deshia's relationship that definitely went beyond the crew and I's friendship.

When E first introduced Dre and I, we didn't exactly get along. Mostly because I was the mellow and shy one and he was the hothead who's lifestyle was too unpredictable.
