There were only a few places the crew and I went to distribute. The club, Outsiders, the local race track, The Trenches and maybe house parties depending on what we were carrying.
Even though it had been easier to sell on the corner and in dark alleyways, the shit was just too sketch.
BM was not one to put his best on just any street corner nor was I the one to let the crew carry out just any job.
With being a witness to Dre's second life, it always made feel uncomfortable. Having to watch him hide money in his socks and slap hands with men twice his age always put me in defensive mode. Though soon that feeling of being uncomfortable turned into curiosity.
Dre had always told me the things he did was more than just hand-to-hand transactions and my naive ass should've listened.
I failed at being the friend he needed in order to escape from his bad decisions. So, instead I became a follower in disguise.
Nearly my whole childhood I bounced from house to house and even lived in shelters. Unfortunately my mom was short of luck when it came to keeping a stable job, but somehow she pulled through.
Some nights I laid up asking myself why. Why didn't I just say no when Dre asked the crew and I to move. Why couldn't I have been patient? And why the fuck did I decide to drag my closest homie into it? It was a curse for wanting to grow up so fast. I was trying to play the role of a man and yet I was still a child.
"Aye y'all set?" Dre walked back into the safe house.
After a pickup from a location, we picked a new route to Dre's security safe house. Locking us inside out, it was a place where we orchestrated missions, stacked drugs, cleaned and counted money and traced back serial numbers for weapons.
"Here's the new route for Outsiders." Xavier got up from his computer. "We each need to take Garrison Drive, then split up at the intersection. Me eastbound. Cor and E north and Dre and Ty circle around for patrol." He picked up the sheet of paper being printed off. "In the event that something goes wrong, y'all know what to do." He let each of us review the sheet before lighting it in the trash. "I programmed the routes into y'all's burners as always." He handed each of us our second set of smartphones.
"Sounds like a plan Hacker." Dre patted Xavier's chest. "Now suit up."
"I'm already suited." He defended wiping his computer.
"Well stop playing with your pussy and go grab a weapon." We all smirked and he did as told.
"Wait at least thirty to forty-five minutes before going in there—" Tyrone came out the bathroom. "Gahh damn!"
"Nigga you fucking nasty!" Cory exclaimed. "What the fuck did you eat?" He began to cover his nose as he passed by.
"Man you know that Mexican joint off Scott street." He began to rub his stomach and we all looked between each other in disgust.
