When the virus outbreak began, there had been news of people getting sick in the bigger cities, for Liz it had seemed like something very far away. King County had been a small town where nothing from the outside reached. So whilst many cities were in panic, the small town had continued their normal lives.

That is until Rick Grimes got shot.

It all started going downhill since then, at least for Elizabeth.

She had returned home, rekindled with her dad and was living a peaceful life again. He and Lori fought but it still didn't do much to get her out of that bubble she had created around herself.

Her dad had gone into a coma days before now and she had gone back to work immediately trying to have something to keep busy with, but it hadn't been the best choice.

She was working in the town's diner as a waitress, and everyone knew about deputy Grimes getting shot, so she was receiving pitiful looks everywhere she went, some people tried making conversations about her time at college, trying to pry into her life. She received the comments about her dad with a solemn thank you and always repeated it was wonderful, but I missed home for the second. When people tried asking her about Wesley who hadn't set foot back home in years, she just smiled and said he was happy studying in New Haven.

The virus had gotten worse and authorities were now planning to evacuate the town, starting with the hospitalized people, but that hadn't happened yet, King County hadn't reached a critical state...until now.

She had spilt the coffee she was serving when out of a sudden yelling was heard. "What the hell's happening out there?"

The people inside the diner looked outside worriedly, the grave silence that had settled was broken when a gaunt-looking person came inside and bit the first person she saw, screams followed.

Liz widened her eyes in shock at the action. Looking at the woman better, she realised her eyes didn't look normal, Liz took notice of her skin, she didn't seem alive.

The virus.

She went back into the administrations rooms away from the people running and screaming to get the phone in Mr Banks office. "Hey, I need the—ah!"

She yelled when a body lunged towards her. She pushed it back with force catching the eyes of Benny, a guy around her age she knew from high school that worked in the kitchen. "B— Benny?"

Benny just growled, lunging back at her. "No no no, stop, Benny."

She moved back into the room, cursing at herself for not getting away. She threw at him all the objects she could find but it didn't face him. "Okay, okay," she mumbled. She did the only thing that came into her mind. She walked closer to him grabbing his hand and pushed him towards her dodging his body making him stumble to the ground.
