From the beginning I was playing around with the idea of Skyla being Nice Lapis from Steven Universe Future . I debated with myself if I should keep her as an original character or have the twist revealed later on. When she crashed onto the beach in volume one I finally thought "screw it, let's do the plot twist!" (Also it was fun dropping hints throughout the story!)
Besides, what's not to love about this freckled bean. I mean look at her!
