Dinner time was the first time he actually had a full conversation with them all. He sat down as Phil was finishing cooking, and Wilbur and Techno were already there.
As soon as the food was set down, Wilbur and Techno began filling their plates. Tommy just say and watched, not moving to take any of his own.
"You can go ahead and get some, Tommy." Phil said, smiling at him. Tommy looked at all the food, and with the whole family watching him, took a small potion of each dish out.
Then, it was quiet for a moment.
"We'll have to sign you up for school soon, Tommy." Phil said. Right now, he knew the boys were in a winter break, because it was still early January. "You can go to the twins' school for second semester."
Tommy nodded. He had jumped around schools a lot.
"It's a really nice school just down the road. One of the boys will have to take you in the mornings and pick you up after. They have lots of choices for extra curriculars and electives, so we can go over those at some point."
Tommy nodded again. He had always hated these dinners. Because the families always felt like they had to talk to him and it always ended up being awkward.
"So, Toms, what's your favorite subject?" Wilbur asked.
"I dunno." He shrugged. "And my name is Tommy, not Toms."
"Okay then." Wilbur muttered, and then went back to his meal.

He heard Wilbur and Techno talking that night. They probably thought he was asleep.
"That was kind of rude, Techno. I mean, did you hear that? I get the kid is troubled, but come on. At least have some manners."
"Wilbur, be gentle with him. We don't know what his life has been like before he got here. Don't judge him too harshly."
"I just... you'd think if the kid wanted to be a part of a family he would at least be nice."
"Wilbur! You can't just say stuff like that."
Tommy didn't listen after that.

I know, I know. Short chapter. I'm working on it. Bit of a writers block currently but it's alright.
We'll get into again.
Hope you all enjoyed!
