A/N: I actually had half this chapter written from last year but I wasn't satisfied with it and then I obsessed over a different fandom for almost a year and then I started feeling like shit because responsibilities and other stuff so no motivation to write and yadayada-- point is, I am back for the time being, so I will not make any promises regarding me updating regularly (cough, like last chapter, cough) (I apologize).

Haha anyways so...first year university! And I have no clue what I'm doing in life! And so I'll continue writing fics and hoping things will work out! (they have not, being a stem student is absolute hell, someone send help)

Enjoy the chapter guys :)

Killua made sure to leave for school extra early that morning before the other students arrived, including Gon. His mission was still a secret, and he really didn't want to explain why he was interrogating the troublemaker over an incident that occurred a week ago.

And deep down, he didn't want Gon to see him threatening someone. The boy already knew what he was, but that didn't mean that he was ready to show Gon his ugly side. And he probably would never be ready.

"Ugh, why do I even have to care?" Killua grumbled under his breath, walking straight towards the back of the school with his hand on his temple. It didn't help the fact that he was dealing with an annoying headache and running on 3 hours of sleep. The boy considered just pushing the conversation for a later time, but that would mean he was weak and couldn't handle a little headache and drowsiness, and he wasn't going to let that happen.

He also didn't want to go to school anymore; the faster he cracked the case, the sooner he'll be able to leave.

Inspecting the special garden that connected to the heavy doors, he was satisfied to see that nobody was present. But then again, it was too early for students to be there, unless they were part of extracurriculars.

And that's precisely why he chose to come around this hour. The white-haired boy paced around the area, hoping to find something that would aid him in his mission. He was going to look for John after school instead so that they'd have plenty of time to 'chat'.

So, the boy decided. He first studied the doors, running his sharp fingernails along the flaky worn-out sides. Not sensing anything weird, the boy proceeded his search for anything that wasn't supposed to be there, even if it was a small bubblegum wrapper.

Unfortunately, though, Killua couldn't find anything that was deemed useful to him. The garden was clear and spotless, not a single thing out of place. Perhaps a bit too perfect that even made the teen a bit suspicious. There definitely was an eerie aura surrounding the place, but he couldn't pinpoint where it was coming from.

Whoever it was, they knew how to hide their tracks well, if they happened to have been there in the first place. Killua was sure of the odd presence he felt, but would the person really be that incapable of masking it? Or was this all done to confuse him further?

His headache wasn't doing him any better and he decided to end his search for now. He doubted he would be able to find something useful, and definitely not in this state.

The teen headed back to school, despite his inner protests to skip, and decided to grab a snack and hang around in the library until classes begun. He walked around the hallways for a while to waste time, bought a chocolate bar from the nearest vending machine, and after gobbling that in less than a minute, made his way to the library.

Expecting to be greeted by a few students reviewing before class, he was surprised to see it completely empty. Even so, he walked to the farthest nook in the room and slumped on one of the circular couches, hoping to sleep for at least a few minutes. It was better than nothing, and he had some time to spare.
