Hayden's POV:

I groaned violently and thrashed the duvet on the floor as intense beams of light came through a break in the sheer drapes. I heard faint footsteps echoing in the hallway near my bedroom as I tried to get back to sleep, but I chose to ignore them because my eyelids were severely drooping with sleep. The sound of a silent crack in the door didn't bother me, but what was spoken did.

"Happy birthday, King Hayden!" exclaimed my family, friends, and entire staff from the opening of my bedroom door, and I leapt to my feet in surprise.

"Huh? "

It finally dawned on me that today is my birthday.

"Happy birthday, My son," my parents said, their cheeks lit up with joy.

I hugged my parents and said, "Thank you, mum and dad."

"My big brother is growing up too fast for me to fathom," Sage, my little sister, said, her eyes welling up with tears.

"Oh, you're being dramatic for no reason; I'm only 19!" I responded with a big eye roll in response to her remark.

"Yeah, but it's still too quickly; I feel old given my age," Sage responded with a loud sigh.

"Whatever," I chuckled as I hugged her in a tight hug.

The staff left after placing a two-tier cream and cookies cake on my bed, and as they closed the door, my brother decided to make a big entrance because he enjoys being dramatic.

Hunter, my dramatic younger twin brother by 3 seconds, announces while standing in the doorway clapping his hands loudly, "Someone is growing up today, sadly, it ain't me alone."

"Happy birthday, King Alexander," River responded, feigning a bow and praising him.

"Happy birthday, Prince Nicholas," I say, imitating his movements.

Sage shouted as she threw her hands in the air, "Could you please quit emphasizing that, you're making me feel old!"

"Sorry, but turning 19 is a significant milestone since you are still young enough to discover your true mate". In reaction to my sister's rage, my father, Derek Anderson, Alpha of the Blood Moon Park, the strongest pack in The Southern Hemisphere, states

He's right on the mate part.

I whispered, "I really hope I find her."

"You will, bro! I bet on the Moon goodness" Sage says trying to comfort me.

For the first time after I've learnt to close off any feelings, I've felt a stirring occur in this deemed cold heart of mine. could it be my heart reacting to emotions. Nah...

River interjects, "I'm not sure whether I have one."

Sage responds, "We never know, man,we simply just have to wait and see"

We talked about everything that's about the come as my siblings and I take our places in the kingdom till the sun was about to set

"Now let's go have some cake before it melts onto my bed," I said as we walked to the gardens.

I assumed it would be a modest birthday for a significant age in life...or so I thought

I've never been a lover of parties because I think they're a waste of money, time, and energy, so throwing a lavish party wasn't on my agenda. For a while, murmurs floated in the air on the path to the gardens, until the footsteps gracing the stone-paved path we walked on reverberated off the seemingly paper-thin rock walls in an echoing effect, and silence became a companion as the voices faded away.As we approached the royal gardens, we came to a halt in front of a formation of tables and chairs, some of which were adorned with a buffet of food and others with intricate decor. A crowd of people in elegant designer clothing, a select few revealed themselves before I could even ask a question to emphasize my shock. They appeared to have sensed my presence of my deathing aura reek off in waves. Some of the girls were winking, chuckling, and flashing seductive looks at me , some people just don't have respect for themselves as I searched for hiding areas, only to turn around and face the direction I stood. Some had a glint of anxiety in their eyes, fearful of my reaction to the simple celebration planned to commemorate my coming of age and the year in which I meet my mate, our Queen Luna. In any case,I would have screamed or stormed out, but despite my dislike for such things, I am unexpectedly grateful that they did this. I'm not sure I'd confess it, but I am.

Being a man of few words around people, the words that I have spoken took everyone by surprise to say the least. Strolling through the clearing made by the guests to the under the gazebo decorated with fairy lights, being a man of few words around people, the words that I have spoken took everyone by surprise to say the least.

"Let the party begin!" I said.

Perhaps this won't be too horrible.

Some may say it was a simple, elegant, and memorable occasion, but for me.....it was genuinely the moment I felt truly youthful, relaxed, and happy, but nerves of what was to come kept tugging at my head, not allowing me to enjoy myself.

And I'm Hayden Alexander Dominic
Anderson, Son of Alpha King Derek Anderson and the next Werewolf King

A/N: what do y'all think of the chapter? Thoughts on Hayden?
