"Miss knight, will you stay behind please"
Maximus gave his best friend a questioning look when professor McGonagall asked her to stay behind, the girl shrugging not knowing why the woman wanted to speak with her.
"Want me to wait?"
"No its okay, aren't you supposed to be going on a date with
Ced after this?" Max smacked his head at his own forgetfulness, Cedric his had said he planned a little afternoon for them away from hogwarts before all the stress of the first task which was coming up quickly, too quickly."Okay, I'll see you later yeah?" Rosalind nodded and smiled as the hufflepuff boy kissed her forehead before leaving with the rest of the class. Rosalind took her belongings and went up to McGonagalls desk, the old woman letting a smile grace her face when the rest of the students left.
"What can I do for you Mcgonnie?" Not even phased by the slytherin giving her that nickname, the transfiguration professor let out a deep sigh and lent her arms on the table.
"I know it's not my place but what in Godrics name is going on with Potter and Weasley?" The Scottish woman asked making Rosalind refrain from rolling her eyes. She had finally spoke to Ronald however he wasn't having any of it, he was ever so sure that Harry put his name in the goblet of fire and was riled up about it. Luckily for the red haired boy, it was Fleur that had told Rosalind to leave it and let the boys deal with it themselves. Every friendship was bound to have bumps in the road and they had to overcome it on their own. Safe to say it was a massive shocker when the slytherin actually listened to the french girl and did as told. Rosalind didn't normally listen to anyone.
"Petty jealousy Mcgonnie, petty jealousy" The professor hummed at this, those two normally inseparable and to see them fight over such a thing had her worried.
"Right, I see" McGonagall clicked her tongue with a sigh.
"Anything else professor?" Rosalind smiled at her favourite teacher, pulling her bag further up her shoulder.
"How are you dear?" McGonagall wouldnt dare say she picked favourites but Rosalind knight was definitely one of her favourite students. Just like how she saw the marauders as her own children all those years ago, she saw the same in the slytherin girl. She cared about her deeply and knew that's exactly what she needed. Someone who cared.
"You know Mcgonnie, I think I'm okay" Rosalind smiled down at her feet, she was coming to terms with the fact that she no longer had her biological family, not that she had them to begin with really anyways, but she was realising that family isn't always blood, it's who you choose it to be. And she had family all around her, she had people who didn't see her as Rosalind Knight, the daughter of death eaters who they should fear, she had people who saw her for her and loved her despite it all .
Not that she knew it but her family would only grow more and more as time went on.
"I'm very glad to hear that but you know I'm always here if you need someone to talk to"
"I do, thanks Mcgonnie" Minerva smiled at the girl, a smile that was not seen often by many.
"Now go on, I have papers to grade"
"Ofcourse Mcgonnie, wouldnt want to take you away from the oh so boring job of grading papers" Rosalind sang teasingly as she backed away to the door, opening it before shouting a "see you tomorrow!" And exiting the room.
The transfiguration professor shook her head as a little laugh escaped her throat.
"Just like Black"
Once the Slytherin girl closed the door to the classroom she let a beam come upon her face seeing a particular french girl standing there waiting for her.
"You took a while" Fleur stated, her hands clasped together behind her back, her skirt fluttering in the November breeze. This was their new thing, waiting for eachother after lessons, going on walks together during lunch times, it had people staring at them bewildered. No one expected that friendship. Hermione and Ginny didn't seem to like it tho , saying that Fleur was probably only using her to gain information on Cedric and Harry which Maximus had shut down straight away, not even letting his best friend say anything because he knew about Rosalind's feelings towards the french girl and wasn't going to let some fourth and third year jealous little girls get in the way of that, he didn't care if they were Rosalind's friends, he wasn't having it.
The pair had been growing closer over the past few weeks. Rosalind had been teaching Fleur English and it was very noticeable how better her pronunciation had become, the more time they spent together the more things they shared and it seemed they were becoming rather close fairly quickly. Fleur knew all about Rosalind's family, well not everything but she knew about how she was a 'blood traitor' and to Rosalind's surprise she didn't care, only cursed out her wicked parents in thick french. Fleur had also let out a few secrets of her own, she showed she was not as confident as she made herself out to be and sometimes hated being quarter Veela because of the attention she received, it seemed both girls shared deep insecurities they hid away.
"My apologies, was just speaking to Mcgonnie" smiling, Rosalind took Fleurs satchel off of her and held it in her own grasp. A habit that she had picked up over the past two weeks. Fleur hid her smile at the gesture and started walking beside her as they moved away from the classroom. Their shoulders ghosting eachothers ever so slightly.
"Mcgonnie?"
"My favourite teacher ever"

"I'm sorry what?" Rosalind stared at Fleur with wide and her mouth open in shock. She couldn't believe it. Surely not.
"You're joking"
"Oui, dragons! Madame Maxime told me herself" Fleur said, her arms flying about to emphasise her exclamation. The french girl had just told Rosalind the secret of the what the first task was, she knew she shouldn't really tell anyone but she couldn't stop herself. Maybe if she helped Rosalind's friends, the girl would catch the hint that Fleur was trying to prove that she wasn't like what people told her, that she was actually nice and selfless (and would be a good candidate for a girlfriend!)
"They must be taking the piss! I mean I knew it was gonna be extreme but dragons! Merlin" from being around her so much the last few weeks, Fleur had grown used to the girls potty mouth. She sometimes even found it hot when Rosalind swore, again must be the English air getting to her head.
"I need to tell Harry and Cedric" the Slytherin stood up and grabbed her bag, Fleur thought she was about to leave her until a hand with a glossy black manicure was infront of her face, waiting for her to grab it to help pull her up. Fleur felt her tummy fill with butterflies as she slipped her hands in Rosalind and jumped up to her feet.
Neither of them realising they hadn't let go until parting ways in the courtyard.
