Chapter 12 - Paperclips and a Slumber Party

Y/N POV:

After Coach came back from the "Land of Fame" he started coaching again.  He worked with all of us to improve our weaknesses and improve our strengths.  Like trying to get Luis to stop, which so far is not working.  But anyways, playing hockey has been fun again.  Kenny and me are continuing to get closer which makes me really happy.  I definitely have a crush on him, I just need to debate if I want to tell him or not.  But regardless, the Goodwill Games are starting to become fun again.

Connie, Julie, and I have gotten super close and decided we would have a slumber party.  I know we all sleep in the same room, but this time we are gonna have junk food and listen to music all night.  And we were not allowing any of the boys to come into our room tonight.  You see, normally all the guys on the team just barge into our room and invite themselves to hang out with us.  We finally decided tonight we would utilize the lock on our door.
"Okay I got the ice cream cartons, pops, and candy," Connie says as she brings all our junk food into the room.  I was busy making a fort for us to hang out in, taking advantage of the unused bottom bunk, while Julie was looking through her cassettes as she had the most options.

"Don't you mean soda?" Julie asked.

"What?" Connie and I asked in unison.  I mean come on, who calls it soda?

"Nevermind," Julie sighed as she mumbled something about Maine under her breath.

"Volia!" I said as I finished tucking in the final blanket to complete my fort.

"Wow, y/n that's so cool!" Julie complemented.

"Yeah, nice job spini," Connie agreed.  We lifted the blanket at the entrance of the fort and climbed in with our junk food.  I had a couple of chocolate bars, packs of gummies, and a few other things.  I also had a carton of f/f ice cream which I was sure to devour.

"Okay, let's play truth or dare first," Julie decided.

"Sure.  Connie, truth or dare?" I asked Connie.
"Um, truth," She decided.

"How long have you had a crush on Guy?" I asked. Connie in turn blushed and began stuttering.

"Well, uh, maybe its been a few years," she says, though it sounds like a question.

"Come on Cons, you gotta tell the truth," Julie prompted.

"Okay, since Kindergarten," Connie admits.  Julie and I then start giggling at Connie who is blushing madly.

"Oh shut up y/n.  How long have you been crushing on Ken?" Connie retorts.  This causes me to blush a little bit and become nervous.

"You didn't ask me a truth or dare," I point out, "so I don't have to answer.

"Alright, truth or dare y/n?" Julie questions.

"Dare," I decided hesitantly, not wanting to answer the question.  Julie rolls her eyes but begins thinking of a dare nonetheless.  Connie suddenly lights up and whispers something in Julie's ear.

"I dare you to knock on one of the boy's rooms and ask for a tampon," Julie says, repeating what Connie told her.  I (very) reluctantly walk out of our room and approach Guy, Charlie, Adam, and Luis' room.  I knock on the door and Luis answers.

"What can I help you with Spini?" Luis questions.

"Do you by any chance have a tampon?" I say, just loud enough so the girls standing in the doorway can hear me.  They burst out laughing as Luis looks at me with an unreadable expression.  To avoid further embarrassment, I grab the door handle and shut the door.  I then immediately sprint back into my room and dramatically flop onto the floor.  Julie and Connie don't stop laughing as we all settle back into the fort and continue our game.

Kenny POV:

I was hanging out in my room with Averman, Goldberg, and Dwayne, just messing around.  We were insanely bored and had no idea what to do.

"We could just go to bed, it is like 11 right now," I suggest, though I know that likely isn't going to happen.  Just as I predicted, Averman burst into laughter.

As I was about to suggest something else, someone knocked on our door.  I opened it up to see Guy with the same bored expression we all wore.  He pushed his way in and placed himself on Averman's bed. 

"Charlie won't stop going over plays, Banks is too busy pouting, and Luis won't talk after he opened the door!" Guy complained to us all.

"Well we aren't doing anything more interesting Goldberg said.

"We could go sneak into the breakfast kitchens and steal some food," Dwayne suggested.

"I'll come!" Goldberg said immediately while the rest of us declined.  So they left to go get some food, I don't think those two are ever not hungry.

"We can go bother my sister," Averman suggested.  Guy jolted up at this knowing it would mean he could see Connie.  I did too, but not for the same reason.  It was a similar reason, I was excited to see y/n.  She was really pretty and I couldn't deny my huge crush on her.  Can you blame me?  She had beautiful h/c hair and e/c eyes.

"KEN!" Averman shouted, breaking me out of my mental rant about y/n.

"Let's go man," Guy said walking out the door. 
We walked down the hall and knocked on the girls' door.  Getting no response, Averman tried to turn the knob.  However, it seemed as though they locked the door.  We did know they were there because we could hear some music coming from the door.

" Anyone have a paperclip?" Averman asked us.

"No, who has a paperclip on them?" Guy asks.  This started a small dispute as I walked back to our room.  I pulled out some random packet of paper and removed the paperclip.  I jogged back over to the arguing boys and handed it to Averman.

"Thanks man," Averman said to me while giving Guy the stink eye.  He began attempting to pick the lock like they do in movies.  Surprisingly it works and he opens the door. 

We walk into the room to find the girls all dancing around to some music coming from a cassette player.  Connie so the first one to notice is there and instead of chewing us out, she grabs Guy's hand and continues dancing.  I see Averman shrug before he goes over to his sister.  They begin trying to outdo one another with ridiculous dance moves. 

Y/N POV:

As Connie, Julie, and I were dancing, some of the boys walked in.  I ignore them and continue dancing but Connie approaches Guy and begins dancing with him.  My brother comes over and starts an unannounced dance battle.  As we finish our battle, me coming out victorious, I notice Kenny is there too.  I walk over to him and grab his hand, pulling him to dance too. 

Although our slumber party was ruined by th boys, again, it was fun.  As I danced with Kenny I knew for a definite fact I liked him, and maybe, just maybe he liked me too.

3rd Person POV:

At some point, Connie and Guy ended up cuddled up in the corner of the room with a blanket around them.  Julie ended up falling asleep in her bed with a gummy worm half hanging out of her mouth.  Averman fell asleep on his sister's bed, an empty f/f ice cream tub in his hands.  Kenny and y/n ended up falling asleep in the fort.  Y/N fell asleep resting her head in the crook of Kenny's neck and he held his arms around her waist.

Dwayne and Goldberg returned from their adventure to the kitchen and noticed the door to the girl's room was open.  As they walked into the room to check on the girls they saw everyone asleep.  Dwayne let out a quiet "Aww" at the sight of Kenny and y/n.  He grabbed Goldberg's shoulder who was eating a stolen box of raisins.  They silently left the room, closing the door behind them.
