My pregnancy was going well. My tummy was getting quite big and I knew I was going to have a boy. Drake constantly hung around me, not at all insulted, when I screamed at him in my angry moods. He had developed an annoying habit of hugging me whenever I walked by. ‘I love you.’ were his favorite three words. We made it a habit to walk in the park everyday, and were always joined by some of our friends. That afternoon wasn’t any different, they all decided to go. Drake had everything ready, before I could even get up. It was a lovely sunny day, so all we took was the picnic basket. The girls and their mate would meet us in the park. We walked to the park, well, Drake walked, I waddled.
Half way to the park I felt pain in my stomach, I ignored it. I’m a bloody Alpha, I will not whine at every sting I felt. But when we reached the park it was to much for me to take and I collapsed in a bush. Drake panicked and I had to kick his knee to calm him down. He quickly called an ambulance and sat by me. It was then that I realized I was giving birth. I cursed so loudly, Drake paled.
“Does it hurt that bad?” He asked worried. I growled:
“No, fool. I’m giving birth in a bush like a freaking dog, that’s bad.” He laughed at my misery, until I grabbed his clothes.
“Oh, damn. I need to push.” I gasped out of breath because of the pain. Now had I already decided to give birth at home so he knew what to do, but he turned paler every time I wringed of pain. After what felt like twenty hours he said:
“One final push and we’re done, babe.” I shot him a piercing look.
“We are done? Who’s doing all the work here?” I cried out as I pushed, feeling the baby slide out of my body. Drake quickly draped him in his jacket and gave him to me, before tying the navel cord and cutting it. Finally the paramedics arrived, they took me to the hospital and cleaned me up. The baby and I were fine. ‘Strong as a horse.’ The Dr. said, So we were discharged. Drake had tried to call my mom but she didn’t pick up. So he went to get a car while me and the baby waited. Suddenly mom walked by me, I called her and asked what she was doing in the hospital. When she turned around I saw the red eyes and tear tracks on her face.
“Mom, what’s up?” I asked. She saw the baby and started to shine.
“Wow, you didn’t take your time did you?” She asked. “Well aren’t you a big boy?” She cooed to the baby.
“Mom, tell me what wrong.” I demanded, She sighed and took the baby from me.
“I’m sick, sweetie, really sick.” Already weak from giving birth I was glad I was already sad and that she had taken the baby, cause I felt numb.
“How sick?” I asked. The pain was so clear, I knew the answer before she said it:
“I have three months to live.” Drake walked in and I rushed to him hiding my face in his chest. Mom told him what was wrong and he held me like I could break at any moment. I could feel his pain and knew he felt mine. The baby started to cry, so I took him from my mom and we walked to the car. I fed the baby and hugged him close to my chest.
“Why didn’t you tell me sooner?” I demanded an answer from my mom, she sighed.
“I wanted you to be able to enjoy you’re pregnancy and the first months of motherhood.” When we got home Drake rushed me to bed, and laid the baby in the crib next to the bed, he called our friends and the pack. It was Friday so there would be a meeting tonight, but he arranged it so that it would be held in Chelsea’s new apartment. She moved out of her parents house as soon as she could. He had to go, but my mom would stay here and we’d have a girls night.

Watching movies on the flat screen TV in my room, mom and I had loads of fun trying to forget the future. She went down stairs and suddenly I smelled a scent that triggered fear. There was a vampire in the room. I howled an alarm, got up and ran to my baby, but I felt a sharp pain in the back of my head and everything went black.
