Saturday morning.

A delicious smell woke me up and drove me out of my bed. I slipped my bathrobe on and walked down the stairs.
“good morning, Sunshine.” Drake said as he pulled a freshly baked bread out of the oven.
“Drake offered to make fresh bread. Isn’t that sweet of him?” Mom asked, smiling an almost to bright smile. She turned to Drake and ‘whispered’ loud enough for me to hear:
“Perhaps I should bake bread more often. This is the first time she has come out of bed, before noon on a Saturday.” They laughed at me, as I turned red.
“Mom!” I yelled, choking on my own laughter. Someone who can’t laugh at his own expense is boring. Mom sliced the bread Drake had put own the table.
“Did you examine the living room last night?” he asked turning serious. I nodded.
“Yeah, but it wasn’t any of my wolves. Not a member of my pack.” I said. He raised his brow, daring me to speak my mind. I knew what he thought I was thinking, but I meant something else.
“I think it might just be an member of ….’ He pulled his brow further up. “The vampire population. It didn’t smell like wolf.” I finished my sentence. He gave me a stern look, that made me laugh. He thought about it and nodded.
“That would explain the blood, for some reason everything they do must include blood, preferably fresh.” He said, scrunching his nose in disgust.
“Listen, there is a ball tonight and me and my friends are going shopping for outfits if you want to come.” I offered.
“Ok, but do you mind if I invite my friends? Going shopping alone with four girls is not really a fantasy of mine.” he said, with a grim expression like I offered to torture him. Mom giggled as I gave him a glare.
“Sure you can invite you friends. We’ll leave here in an hour.”
He gave me a piece of bread. He sat himself next to me and took what was left of the bread for himself. We talked about school and my Tess. When I was done I leaned against him and sighed.
“That was delicious, Drake.” Mom said.
“Yeah, well I have go change.” I said, as I walked upstairs. I could feel Drake’s eyes burn holes in my back as I walked away. After I was showered and dressed, we took off towards the mall where my friends were waiting for us. His friends also met us and we started shopping.
“Do you girls already have dates for this ball?” one off his friends asked. He had blond surfer hair and grey eyes. Lane shot him a look and said:
“No, but we can bring dates if we like.” The guys looked at each other and the surfer asked:
“Well, would you like to go with me?” One of the guys that had black spikes, dark brown eyes and a tan, smiled.
“Do you have a crush on Lane, Shilow?” The surfer gave him a glare.
“No. You know, we can’t date until we’re mated, Marley.” Marley shrugged and wrapped his arm around Chelsea’s shoulder.
“Would you like to go with me, beautiful?” He asked charmingly. Christopher another of Drake’s friends had long brown hair, and brown eyes amused Danny with a story of a vampire on the run. When he overheard the conversation, between the rest. He turned to Denny and asked her to take him. Drake and I walked without talking much. He looked at me and I nodded: We would go together. There was a comfortable silence between us as we strolled through the mall.
Suddenly we walked into Blondie and her sheep. I wasn’t generally mean to people, but Birdie had always picked on me when we were little. Pulling my hair and hitting were the least of what she did to me. She once spilled water over my pants and ran to tell the teacher I had peed my pants. Once, later, she got a purse out of her locker and put it in mine, the whole school had thought I had stolen it. Only the Weres believed me. She had the nerve to point the teacher to my locked and came by my house that afternoon to tell my mom that she wasn’t mad at me.
Last week she had lured me to school at night with a note that came in my mail and lured one of our classmates there too. Then she took a picture of us there, not only was the boy a member of my pack but we really had a good time laughing at her wondering how her camera was broken when she only left him alone for five seconds. Harry was one of my quickest runners and always won in the pack competition.
“Hi, Alyssa. Whose your friend?” She asked rubbing herself against Drake. My wolf objected and I growled at her. Drake gave me a confused and annoyed look. He suddenly understood why I growled and shot me an amused look.
“My name is Drake and these are my friends, Shilow, Marley and Christian.” He said to Birdie. He looked at me from the corner of his eye. I shot daggers at him with my eyes and grabbed his arm.
“There here for me, so take a hike, Blondie.” Marley laughed and I gave him a glare. He quickly stopped laughing and bowed his head. I walked off and pulled Drake with me.
