He ran as fast as he could. Almost as if hell was after him. Well, it kind of was. The moon was high, the stars shining down, giving him enough light to navigate himself through the woods as they got thicker. He noticed the grass and the plants growing wildly, a distinct sound of water running reached his ears. He paused for a second, leaning against a tree. He was panting hard. His lungs burned. He started walking towards the sound of water. Just need to reach the river, he thought to himself. Suddenly he heard a twig snap behind him. He dashed for the nearest tree and hid behind it, peeking slightly to see. He strained his ears for any sounds. He could hear faint brushing of people against the bushes and hushed whispers. He held his breath, stood very still as the voices neared.
"Can you see him?" he heard someone say.
"No. but he couldnt have gone far. You go north. Ill go south. And you go east."
He sucked in a gasp. Footsteps receded but one pair came closer. Closer. Enough that he could almost hear that persons wheezy breath. He quickly scanned his surrounding for any other being and then checked his belt. One gun. He mentally cursed himself for not carrying a knife.
As he felt the mans presence just mere inches away from him, he swiftly pulled out his gun and lunged for him. He slammed the handle on the gun in the mans face and drove his clenched fist into upper abdomen, near his diaphragm. The man stumbled back, tripping on a branch, clutching his bloodied nose and stomach.
He made a run for it and far enough from the man when he heard him yell out to his friends.
Shit, shit, shit.
He could hear and even feel several presences come towards him. Someone was yelling orders. Guns were getting cocked. Rays of flashlights went around him.
Just to the river. Just need to get across it.
He chanted desperately as he ran for his life. The roar of the flowing river rang in his ears. The ground started to get very damp, slowing him down. He soon reached the banks and frantically searched for the stone bridge. He started walking towards a random direction. Water splashing against him, wetting his trousers. He slipped a couple of times on moss-ridden rocks but managed to keep his balance.
He let out an exhale of relief when he finally saw the stone bridge.
It was just a few feet away.
"Stop."
He paused. He slowly turned towards the direction of the voice.
At least a dozen men stood on the banks in an arch around him, surrounding him completely. Their guns pointing towards him.
"Stop this shit and surrender." said the man in the front, his voice extremely familiar. He hated it. "Why dont you make it easy for both of us and just come with me? You dont need to get things messy."
He smirked. "I dont?"
"You and I both know what will happen if you try to fight back." The guns cocked.
"Oh, who said anything about fighting back? Im not going to fight you. I already have what I came for."
The man looked confused but still said, "Well, then you also know we cant let you take it."
"I'll take my chances." He shrugged.
The mans gun drooped a bit. His eye twitched a little, an unexplainable expression filled his face. Almost similar to fear. "He will die, you know that right."
"I doubt that. You would have already killed him if you wanted to. But you didnt. You need him too."
Shit. He shouldnt have said the last thing.
The man laughed. "Okay. Now I get it. You're doing it for him. Does your sweet, innocent Jimin even know who you are?"
He smirked, mirth filling his every cell. "He knows."
And he jumped in to the water.
Jungkook groaned as he came to be in the morning. Why is his subconscious trying to remind him of something that happened weeks ago? He jutted his arm out to grab his phone from the bedside table. 5:53 AM. He groaned again. 7 minutes before his scheduled alarm. He opened his eyes a sliver. He stared at his ceiling as he contemplated whether to wake up then or sleep for 7 more minutes.
He heard a faint moan beside him and some shuffling near him. The woman sleeping beside him turned to face him, the blanket slipping off her shoulder, exposing her naked shoulder to the cold, morning air. Goosebumps arose her arm as she stifled a bit. A faint frown creasing her forehead, expressing her displeasure. "Cover me up again, will you?" she mumbled in her sleep.
Jungkook scoffed a bit and pulled the covers back up, let her snuggle comfortably. He stared at her face. Park Chaeyoung. That was her name. Tall, beautiful, blonde haired, Park Chaeyoung. Her full cheeks were smooshed against the pillow, defining her pout even more. Her long hair covered all of her pillow and even some of his. One could almost think that she looked cute. She was cute, actually. Until she whipped out her knives, pulled someones guts out and made Christmas decorations with it, her hair and makeup looking fabulous the entire time.
His phones alarm snapped him out of his reverie. He slapped his finger on the screen, shutting the annoying sound off. He pushed back his side of covers and blindly searched for his underwear. It was still winter and the mornings were dark. He walked towards his bathroom, his eyes still half shut, mostly remembering the way by muscle memory. He quickly freshened up and came out in his work out gear. Chaeyoung was awake, sitting up and in her phone.
"You're going to the gym? Or the training room?" she asked, without looking up.
"The gym." He answered nonchalantly. Then he smiled at her, smug. "Why, wanna come?"
"No, you horny pig. If it had been training room, I still would have considered."
"I could join you later in the morning." He offered.
Chaeyoung scoffed and got out of the bed. she looked around the room for her discarded clothes. She didnt bother try to hide her nakedness. She knew Jungkook had seen her naked multiple times and also that he wasn't affected much. They were best friends but they did occasionally used each other to relieve their stress.
He watched her move around. Her every move graceful and precise. Her body was strong, lean but muscled. Her back straight and shoulders thrown back, her walk grounded and feet planted. The stance of a warrior.
She pulled on her undergarments and said, "When have we ever actually trained in the training room? The amount of time we have ditched training for sex, I'm surprised Skye hasnt banned us from entering."
"He cant exactly ban his best fighters." He stated cockily.
"Don't flatter yourself too much. I've heard Wonho is back."
The smug smile disappeared from Jungkooks face. He clenched and unclenched his jaw, tongue poking his inner cheek, trying to keep his annoyance in check. "So, what about it?"
Chaeyoung noticed his anger. She always did. "Nothing. Just thought I should mention it. So that you wont be irked when you bump into him in the gym."
"Why would I be irked?" he asked, defensively.
She gave him an unimpressed look. "So, you would be totally okay with seeing him, especially after what he did last week?"
Last week.
"of course" he said, shouldering his gym bag, "I'm okay with it. Its not like I can do anything about it."
But that, they both know, was a lie.
