He sat beside me at the bar. "When did you get into town? He asked. "Last week" I said Softly. " I heard about your mom, I'm sorry darlin" he said grabbing my hand. We sat and talked for hours. I knew I needed to head home, but something told me to stay.
We spent the night walking the beach and he was telling me about his songs and his upcoming tour. We spent the night together and by morning all I left him was a number..
A few months had passed and I had settled back down in Arkansas at my dead end job. It was closing time and I turned up the radio to begin cleaning when I heard the song.
🎶Somethin' bout the way she kissed me tells me she'd love Eastern Tennessee
Yeah, but all I brought back with me was some sand in my boots 🎶"That was a new one from Morgan Wallen" the radio host said. I turned off the radio.
I went home that night and replayed the song.
I missed him. He was my best friend after all. But after that night, I knew he was going to be more.
I packed what I could into my Malibu and headed back to Tennessee. I couldn't get ahold of Morgan so I stopped by Paul's knowing he was there frequently.
"Have you seen him?" I asked Paul pointed to the back corner. He was sitting alone. I walked up and placed my bag on the chair.
"Darlin" he said. "Can I come home?" I asked him. "Of course" he smiled. "I heard the new song" I said sitting down. "I wrote it about our last night together" he said grabbing my hand. "About that Mo" I said hesitating. I had been keeping a little secret.
"Don't tell me you regret it?" He asked and I shook my head. I pulled the tiny picture from my wallet and slid it across the table. He grabbed it and studied it.
He got up and walked off. Moments later he had a microphone in his hand.
"Paul a round of drinks for everyone, I'm gonna be a dad!" He announced. The bar erupted in cheers. Suddenly the door flew open.
"Grayce I know you're in here" the voice boomed.
'Daddy?'
