Growing up has its ups and downs. Ups where youre popular and downs where everyone only knows you because your daddy is crazy.. In a small town just outside of the suburbs.  I lived a normal life with my mom and brother Adam. My best friend was my next door neighbor Morgan. My mom and his mom were best friends too.

"I wrote a new song today" Morgan beemed as we sat put on his porch. I smiled. "Play it"

He played "The way I talk"

"What do you think? " He asked setting his guitar down. "Its amazing Morgan, you'll be a star in no time" I smiled. He kissed my forehead and sighed.

"About that, there's a company in Knoxville that wanna sign me" he said.

I looked up at him. "Don't cry darlin" he said pulling me into his side. "I can't go with you" I said standing up.  "Why not?" He said "I  I can't leave momma, daddy gets out soon and" Morgan stopped me. " so your gonna stay and get yourself hurt?" He said loudly. "I love you" he said. "I know and I love you Mo, I just, I can't love you more than my hometown". I walked away. That night he packed his things and headed for Nashville.  I moved to Arkansas after a huge fight with Adam it came to blows over letting daddy back or not.  And well..

Daddy got out a year later and found us.  But was quickly re arrested. Momma was so beside herself... and well that's what landed me at Paul's.
