A/n: So this Oneshot is based heavily on the Musical "The Last Five Years". Basically, I was listening to the song "The Next Ten Minutes" from the show and came up with this idea. I love this musical dearly, it's one of my favorites (and the fact that Jeremy Jordan is in the movie version doesn't hurt) and I totally recommend watching it or listening to the album if you are into Musical Theater. That all being said this Oneshot contains a lot of theater vocabulary.

COLLEGE AND REHEARSAL:
Loki and I had been best friends forever and once we entered college we did well on what all of our friends had said and became a couple. Both of us being the theater nerds we are, and a bit nostalgic because it was our last semester of school, decided to try out for our school's production of the Last Five Years. And with a bit of luck and hard work we were each cast and not only cast but as Jamie and Cathy. It's almost as if it had been written in the stars.
Any way we rehearsed, and after almost rehearsal, most nights we ended up going out for dinner or ordering pizza while cuddling in front of the TV. And then we arrived at the most grueling and stressful week.
TECH-WEEK:
Day One: Sound
"Aright Mic Check time," Clara, our director shouted from the sound booth. I thanked my lucky star that there were only our two mics. "Y/n, you're on."
I stepped forward and began singing the loudest part of See I'm Smiling, "You know what makes me crazy? / I'm sorry, can I say this? / You know what makes me nuts? / The fact that we could be together / Here together / Sharing our night, spending our time / And you are gonna choose someone else to be with - no, you are / Yes, Jamie, that's exactly what you're doing-"
"Alright, you're good. Loki?" Clara yelled.
I walked back to sit beside my understudy, Loki's hand gracing mine as we passed each other, and I smiled. I couldn't help but feel the butterflies in my stomach. "Well, then talk to me, Cathy." He sang from If I Didn't Believe In You, and I watched as he sang beautifully and heartfelt. "Talk to me / If I didn't believe in you / We'd never have gotten this far / If I didn't believe in you / And all of the ten thousand women you are."
"We're set," Clara yelled, and we took our places backstage.
Day Two: Costumes
To be fair we had worked with the costumes before then, but that day we were are dealing with more intense costume changes, and making sure the mics stayed in place during those changes.
During Intermission I saw Loki talking with my understudy, she was giggling while he was grinning like a mad man. It's nothing, I thought as I pulled off my dress from the last scene and pulled myself into the shorts and cropped white T-shirt that rested over a blue tank top.
Day Three: Lights
Finally, I thought to myself, I get to deal with the blaring heat of the spotlight on me.
Again Loki is laughing with someone, but this time it's with his understudy. I know it shouldn't bother me, but it does.
Day Four: The Day Before Opening Night
Finishing touches am I right.
Tonight Loki is laughing with Clara.
