"Okay which unit is next?"
The members, who were panting hard moved to their assigned positions. Since the first mission was done successfully, with their pre-debut song Hellevator, they move on to the second mission assigned by JYP. It was a unit mission, wherein they were divided into three teams.
"Ours!" Jeongin answered energetically. He was followed by Jisung and Woojin while they were asked to have their mic check. Jisung started to sing a few lines, being in a good mood he didn't notice he was being funny.
The younger one saw what his hyung did and tried to exaggerate as well.
"Everyone, try to do it properly." Chan said, he seemed upset and the rest noticed it. Jisung slightly smiled at the boy before doing it again, he knew his hyung was stressed and he didn't want to anger him.
He looked too bothered since the Glow team performed.
They all went to lie on the floor as the song stared.
"Na na na na na na na na naaaa, naaa na na na" The tune for School Life continued and they began, with Jisung getting up to rap his part.
Slowly the other two also stood up and started singing as well. The other teams found their energy cute, especially when Jeongin sang his part. As the song neared it's end, they flopped down to the floor again, panting hard.
They stood up, with some of the members clapping. "Should we evaluate them now?" Chan looked at his members, trying to see which would have something to say.
"Hyunjin?" He asked and Hyunjin stood up and looked at the three. "I think they did well, they did not sound too out of breath even when dancing, their acting at the start was also really good. It's like a student who's having a hard time getting up." The other three smiled, thanking him.
"Honestly..." Chan started as everyone's attention is now on him. "When the song was nearing it's end and you were about to lie down again, you shouldn't look too tired. It might not be a great thing. Even if you were tired, you should still show you're fine."
The three nodded, nervous for the words he was about to say next.
"Even with the mic checking, I told you guys to do it again, because you were being careless with it. This is just practice but try to take things more seriously, because with the way you performed, I don't think you were being sincere."
Jisung couldn't believe him. They did try their best, sure they fooled around from the start, but they were serious with the performance.
They avoided his gaze, Jisung even felt sorry for the other two. He wanted to say something but was afraid of saying the wrong thing on camera.
"All of us were given the chance to evaluate each other to help make it better. Was I really the only one who's trying here? I'm saying this for the team, we really need to make this right. And you all still act like this." Chan stood up, and silently walked out of the room.
The rest of the members approached them. "I was serious with my performance though?" Jisung suddenly said. "Eyy, Chan hyung just wanted us to try harder." Felix reasoned. Changbin volunteered to go after Chan along with Minho.
_____"How are you so good at acting hyung?" Changbin asked as Chan chuckled. "Did he suspect anything?" Minho shook his head, "He was sulking, but I don't think he finds anything suspicious."
Chan held the cake while Minho lit the candles. "Let's go, the kids must already be wondering by now." Changbin went ahead of the two, trying to cover the cake they were holding.
They stood by the door while Changbin peeked inside. Jisung's back were facing them, and he still looks mad. Seungmin noticed his hyung, and he signalled the boy to alert the others.
Seungmin tapped Jeongin and asked him to get the others as he went for the lights. Jisung got surprised for a bit when it got dark, then he heard someone started to sing.
"Happy birthday to youuuu, happy birthday to youuu. Happy birthday dear, Jisungggg. Happy birthday to youuuuuu!!!" The members all sang and clapped. Some screeched and laughed looking at Jisung whose dumbfounded.
"Yah what's this??" He whined, while Felix placed a party hat on his head. Chan went to Jisung, still having the cake in hand, "The candles might get on the cake, hurry!"
Jisung clasped his hands to wish before finally blowing it. The members clapped and greeted him.
"Happy Birthday!" Chan said while Jisung was still processing what happened. "Waaah, I really thought you were mad. Ahhh why did you have to do that, really" he talked as his eyes grew bigger, while Chan just laughed.
"I was really nervous, I thought you were about to talk back, if you did I'd probably fail my acting." Chan said chuckling right after.
Jisung hugged his hyung and murmured his thanks. He also went to attack the other members with hugs as they try to avoid it. "Yah! How could ya'll betray me like that?!" He went for Jeongin, tickling the boy as the younger screamed for help.
"Ah hyung get away! It was all for the surprise!" Jeongin defended finally away from Jisung and hid behind Hyunjin, causing Jisung to stop chasing him.
They both stood there quite awkward before Hyunjin spoke, "Happy Birthday." Jisung nodded and thanked him shortly.
The other members had the chance to glance upon what happened. Chan got in between the two, "Okay you two, go get some cake before Jeongin and Felix eat the rest of it." He smiled at the two of them who went along with him.
"Finally getting together I see" Changbin teased Jisung as the other scoffed. "I just greeted him like a civilised person would?" Hyunjin said.
"We barely look at each other. You need to get your eyes checked, 'cause nothing changes." He continued after getting a slice and walking towards Seungmin.
"Probably the only thing I'll ever agree on." Jisung said before eating a spoonful of cake. Chan then glared slightly at Changbin as if saying 'you just had to say that' while the other gave a peace sign to compensate for the mood.
____"Yah Hwang Yeji! Come back!!"
Yeji ran away from the scene, wiping her tears.
She had enough.
She wandered, letting her feet take her to the company's rooftop. Sighing, she felt her lips quiver. She bit her lip to supress a sob yet her tears betrayed her.
They fell one by one, and she finally let it all out, sobbing silently with the sky as her only witness.
After crying for a while, she then stood by the railing of the rooftop, staring highly at the sky.
If only, if only I could go higher. Away from everything, away from them.
"Yah get down!"
_____
*taps mic* hello?? *awkward smiles*
It's been a while, I feel like I neglected this story far too long. Honestly, times have been tough, and writing won't work the way it used to for me. But I hoped for the day I would get to write this again, I want to finish this, I really do. There's so much more about the Jisung and Yeji of my story that's in store, and I will tell it. Stuck or not, I'll give these two the ending they deserve (why am I so dramatic? smh)
