"That girl, her name's Hwang Yeji." Seungmin said
"so?" Jisung had his brow furrowed.
Seungmin looked so done with Jisung at this point for not getting a dang hint.
"Oh nothing, she's just Hyunjin's sister that's all." Seugmin nonchalantly said.
Jisung, and for the second time of that day had his eyes widened too much his eyeballs might fall out.
"Hyunjin? As in Hwang Hyunjin?!!" Jisung asked for confirmation that he was indeed talking about their fellow member.
"Who else do you think, idiot"
Jisung was still to shocked to mind the insult but just as he was about to ask him if he was sure, someone suddenly spoke behind them,
"Seungmin-ah!!!" Hyunjin came running towards the both of them as he finally found Seungmin.
"Where have you been? I thought you left the building or something..."
Seungmin explained that he was given a challenging task, which was to find Han Jisung.
While they were talking, Hyunjin felt someone staring at him and to his surprise, Jisung was indeed staring.
"Is there a dirt on my face?" He asked the boy who was brought back to reality by his voice.
"N-no....I gotta go" Jisung then left the two of them.
Hyunjin shrugged it off as he could only care less to whatever it was and continued talking to Seungmin.
Getting ready for their next performance, Jisung was silent for a good while, still thinking about how much the universe is playing with him right now.
"You are awfully quiet..." Chan said his brows furrowing at Jisung who just sighed and ruffled his hair.
"Just nervous hyung." Which was partially true, since a few more minutes and they'll have to perform.
They were called to wait by the side, he watched the girl group that they were against perform, their choreography was quite well, and he glanced at Yeji from time to time, still bothered that she is Hyunjin's sister.
Once the girls finished, they all aplauded and they were called to the stage.
Jisung cleared his mind and focused on performing, trying his best to not mess this up.
Everything was going well, although Chan slipped and fell in the middle of the performance, he was worried but tried his best not to show it.
Once they were done, every trainee was called to the stage to hear JYP's comments on what they have shown.
Jisung glanced at Chan who mouthed I'm fine to the worried boy.
The CEO approached them, and all the trainees greeted and did a ninety degree bow to show respect.
"Hello to all of you, you have all worked hard, that was quite an audience a while go right? It must have been difficult..."He began
"I would like to congratulate each and everyone of you for doing your best to make this a memorable one. There may have been some mistakes and some may still be lacking but that is the point of evaluations, to see how one progresses and learns from their errors." he began as each trainee listens to his comments nervously anticipating what he has to say next.
"I would also like to add that while this is indeed monthly evaluations, there happened to be a competition regarding a chance to debut."
And with that those who were selected were asked to move forward to be seen by the other trainees who were flabbergasted by the news.
"As I've made my decision, I would like to compliment both groups who have performed today. As I have seen throughout, I have noticed a lot more errors in terms of the boy group than the girl group."
As he said this, the boys looked at each other, some were nervous and some were comforting.
"However, in terms of acting like a group, the boy group stood out." He looked at the boys who were slightly hopeful at the comment,
"you all have this inexplicable bond that could be clearly seen, there may have been mistakes in the performance but overall, you declared you are a team, and moved in accordance to your parts. That's why, I have decided that the debuting group should be...The boy group project."
He left soon after congratulating everyone.
Chan and the others quickly went in for a group hug although some members whined a bit saying its too hot.
Yeji felt happy for her brother
Because she saw how hard he worked to earn it, those late nights staying up to practice, not even having enough time to sleep because they have classes early in the morning.
She was glad for what had happened to her but she can't help but compare.
In her mind, lingered the questions that made her think about what went wrong.
Doubts fill her thoughts, she wondered if her efforts were not enough, if she was not as good as everyone else.
Why were we not good enough to be picked?
She walked away, heading over to their dressing room. The other members were there, giving her sad but consoling smiles.
"We're planning to head out to eat, wanna come?" They asked her.
She nodded, "I'll just go to the restroom."
As she went out, she felt her eyes sting. She panicked, she can't cry here, not now.
She simply wiped them away as quickly as she can, in fear that she might come across her brother.
"Yeji!" She turned around to be greeted by a boy, brightly smiling at her.
"Hey, congratulations and goodluck on your debut." She said with feign enthusiasm.
"Thanks." The boy replied who was now worried at her state.
Her eyes were red, tear stains could still be seen on her cheeks removing some of her makeup.
"I actually went here to congratulate you too." he said.
Yeji mumbled her thanks as she tried to walk away from him, she hates being seen weak like this.
However, he had other plans, with one swift movement, he pulled her close to his arms, engulfing her in a hug.
It took her by surprise, but the way he rubbed her back assuringly, she can't help but cry more.
Yeji was a type of person who cries more when you comfort them.
And as she sobs, she let it all out, all that pain and stress, into the chest of the boy holding her.
She was amused at how quickly she got to let it out in front of him.
"You looked like you could use a hug." He said, explaining the obvious.
Along the barely crowded hallways, Hwang Yeji was hugged by Han Jisung, the annoying boy who gets on her nerve was now also her source of comfort.
