Chapter 4: Sorry

Mike's POV

It's now or never he said this on his mind a couple of times but never really acted upon it. Something is always stopping him from asking. He just stares at the sky wondering what's with him. He already moved on after what Liam did to him but he still questioned why he can't face him head-on.

What they did was an experiment...right? He asks this numerous times. 'Is it though?' he raises a question to himself yet again, doubting the doctor's accusation. Being not so sure about what really happened between them. It was only a one-night stand... With his friend but and doesn't seem like it. Mike is now annoyed as he can't make up his mind already.

He is a doctor for god sake, being unclear and unsure is not a good trait he should be having, but he is also a human but what Liam did is just cruel. As he continues to watch the blue sky filled with white fluffy clouds a person taps his shoulder and created a noise grabbing his attention.

"Are you alright Mikhail, do you want to go to the restroom or something?" Liam asks. He can tell he is somewhat hesitant to ask. But still glad that he made an effort after what he did. He nodded and state that he just needed to grab his book from his bag trying not to make an awkward situation more awkward than it already is. Liam like a gentleman stands up and lets him pass.

Liam's POV

He is glad he had the strength to even look at him and ask. Mike stands up and grabs his book from the top shelf. As Liam writes his point of interest seems to move away from his notepad to the man's body beside him grabbing his book. He did this couple of times regretting it before the man finally found his book and head back to his seat.

Few hours have pass and Liam is starting to get sleepy. He places his notepad and pen down on the table and grabs the eye mask that came from the pouch of the seats. He lay his head down and closes his eyes.

Althea's POV

"Is anyone hungry? I'll see what we have at the back. I would love to give you guys something good but my chef is unable to come as her son is sick.

"I'll cook you guys a meal if you want?" Althea asks and they agreed if she is willing to, which she is.

Arfeah agreed and shows her the way to the kitchen. She seems to impress as she has never really seen any kitchen on a plane before.

Arfeah shows her all the ingredients they currently have and after seeing all she thinks of the best dish she could serve to the others.

Althea grabs a bunch of vegetables, eggs, meat, and the lumpia wrapper. Arfeah told her that if she needs any help just ask using the press-mic next to the apron holder.

She nodded, grabs the pink with flower design apron, and proceed to grab the egg.

Charlie and Shawn decided to help with Althea in any way they can as they are bored. Zedd and Janice are still asleep, Arfeah playing sudoku, Nash reading, Buck and Eddie are also asleep.

Mike thought of checking on Althea to see how is she doing and quickly realize that he is a trap. He raises his legs trying not to disturb Liam asleep. After that, he proceeds to the kitchen to see Althea hanging around with Charlie and Shawn.

"Look who decided to show up," Althea said causing Shawn and Charlie to change their point of interest from the food fight to Dr.Mike looking kinda distracted.

"Is something on your mind?" Althea then added and she introduces him to Charlie and Shawn.

Mike introduce himself and shake their hands. The two start doing what they were doing while Althea and Mike talk.

She asks if he have known Liam a long time ago as they seem to have a history together. This made him kinda uncomfortable she can tell by the way his hands fidget the spoon, his posture, and his eyes.

She may not have always been there with him but he is still the same nerdy man he is today. He takes a deep breath and nods.

She raises another question of when and where. She can't admit it but she is now invested in this as Mike never mentioned to her anything about him knowing Liam even when he knows that she loves one direction, still waiting for the reunion though.

Shawn and Charlie decided to just take a break from wrapping the lumpia and grab the bag of cookies Shawn brought from the trip. As they munch on their food they heard Mike mentioning Liam's name and the two suddenly were interested.

He said they should talk privately about it later or after they land as it's really private. She is now really invested in it knowing that he can't say it out loud nor even look at her in the eyes. Something big must have happened between those two, she thinks and realizes that she just ate the carrot she needed to add for the lumpia.

A few hours later.

They are now in their sits eating the lumpia that Althea made. The others are impressed as they never taste this kind of dish before and Althea is glad. She goes back to her seat and continues to finish the film.

Liam's POV

He and Mile were eating the dish that Althea made. It was delicious but he can't seem to focus on it because of a certain person he hurt a while ago. He wonders if saying sorry even matters even though it was years ago.

"Mikhail" he quietly whispers.

This grabs the other man's attention. Now looking at him with a question in his mind judging by his facial expression.

"I'm sorry," he told him face to face.

"It's better if you just call me Mike" the other man responds avoiding Liam's gaze.

This made Liam more hurt. He never wanted to end like this but he has to try to fix what's left. Suddenly Mike responds.

"Yeah sure..." With little or no emotion looking at the window.

He knows that it's his fault and he understands.

The two continue to be silent and do anything that will avoid each other. They ate lunch and dinner at the place with Althea as the chef. Had a so-so party wine and everything. It was a fun night even though the two never talk throughout the rest of the flight.

They arrived at the airport around the same time they flew. They get out and an old woman is standing near the plane probably waiting for them.

She greeted Nash and Arfeah then greeted the others and starts the cars. Janice ask what about their bag?

The old woman said that they will be brought by Nash's bodyguard. She nodded with that they head to the van. Of course, some fans were there and wanted an autograph. They stop for a while and sign as many as they can.

Due to the capacity, they had to use two vans, Zedd, Janice Liam, Buck, Eddie Nash at the first one, Althea, Arfeah, Mike, Shawn, and Charlie at the next one.

The two sits down near the windows as the driver starts the engine and drive. The two can now breathe normally after a whole day of just being near each other.

Zedd asks if he is okay as he has been pretty quiet lately. He wanted to ask about the picture but he can tell that it's not a great time yet and he just rubs it off and asks about how he is.

He just smiles like usual and told him he is fine just jet lag. He nodded not bothering him anymore.

Now it's just Liam and his thoughts as he observes the great view of this island.
