Chapter 3: Close

Mike's POV

They are just laughing and talking to each other. They are still waiting for the take-off as there is someone in the restroom. He just closes his eyes and tried to sleep some more, true he tries to minimize his nap so that he can have a proper 7 to 9 hours of sleep but the couch he slept in was not as comfortable as his bed. With this in mind, he just grabs his eye mask and tried to get comfy. He should wake up when the plane starts moving so it's fine. And after a couple of minutes, the doctor is out cold.

Liam's POV

He just finishes his business and now washing his hands when his phone vibrates. Liam dried his hands and check his phone. It's Zedd asking if he is okay. He replied with a like and heads out. He notices that there is only one seat left next to a sleeping man. He thought that Zedd would at least save him his seat but then again he didn't tell him to save him a seat so he can't blame him.

Nash asks if he is okay and he gets a thumbs up. He heads to the front and I sit beside the man who is wearing an eye cover and facing in the other direction. He grabs his headphone and listens to the song that he has been working on. He always carries a notepad and a pencil as it's easier to write it than to type the text.

He listens to it and still wonders what is losing on the lyrics. The plane started moving getting ready to take off. It's going to take a whole day to arrive at their destination so he can work. As the plane speeds up the man sitting beside him suddenly moved and his phone drop. He proceeds to grab his phone only to find out who is sitting beside him.

The plane took off--

Mike's POV

It might have been a 10 minutes nap but he needed it, then the plane speeds up indicating he should wake up already. He got a bit surprised when something moves beside him, stumble on something and drop it, with no hesitation he removes his eye mask and grabs the thing that drops. He did grab the thing which is a phone but a familiar face is now in front of him someone from the past.

"Liam?" he asks while holding the phone.

"Mike?" he asks looking at him.

Mike gave him his phone but now. All the things started resonating again. The party, surprise visit, mistakes.

He put on a normal face, both men are now speechless. Charlie then broke the silence by asking you know each other? They look at each other with worry as they don't know what they should tell them.

Liam told them that we use to be friends when we were teenagers. True, Mike is older than Liam but that doesn't mean they can't be friends. Plus he was in med school at that time and Liam is living near his apartment auditioning in a singing contest so they mostly see each other when out.

Charlie nodded and Shawn showed him something on his phone that made him turn to the other side. Liam then turns towards Mike, who is close to Liam as he was waiting for Charlie's reply. Now the two are face to face yet again. He felt his whole face becoming redder and the two distance each other as much as possible with the given space from the seats.

They decided to just ignore each other by doing anything that would distract them, Liam by continuing his notes on his new song and Mike checking his notes, and reading an e-book that he hasn't finished yet.  

Liam's POV

Liam has erased almost everything that he wrote as things did not add up, he got to admit it's hard to write something when he is next to the person that he hurt a long time ago. He didn't want to hurt mike that's the truth, but he had to leave before things became more serious. He knows if things go on that route, both of their careers will break before it even began. He flips his notepad and starts writing again. But as he starts writing his heart started beating fast. He tried to calm down by breathing in and out. 

"Are you alright?" the person next to him asks. 

He is scared as the only person next to him is Mike, he turns his head to the side and with all his willpower states that he is fine. After a couple of awkward nodding, he goes back to writing his song. He is thankful that he is barely affected by all of this, after everything that happened between them a long time ago. This made Liam kinda sad for some reason. He wanted to get out of that situation so both of them can become better person but at what cost? He lost him in the process to save him and himself from the possible problem they might encounter as they broke the rule of friendship. 

As this thing goes in his mind memories started resonating again. He remembered the time he felt his hand touch his while they were at the party, drinking way too much, his soft red lips crashing to his, leaving a note saying goodbye. He got cut out of his thoughts when Arfeah ask if they are hungry? He just asks for water as his stomach clearly did not want anything else at that moment. 

Zedd's POV

Janice is spying on Liam and Mike. I told her to stop that but she didn't listen she wanted to know what's going on between them. He also wanted to know as well the story behind those two, true they don't talk much but he is his friend and he never mentioned knowing Mike who is a doctor and has a channel. He and Janice watch him sometimes as Janice's father is a surgical doctor. She idolizes him but she wanted to pursue her dream and that's becoming a pop star. 

She shows the picture again to Zedd who is still clueless on what does sorry means. From what he can tell Liam and Mike were friends back then but something happened and the note sorry shows that what happened might be his fault. Janice suggests that Liam maybe moves away from Mike, or maybe they fought over a girl that forces their friendship to end. The two were theorizing about what really happened between the two until Nash ask if they are alright. 

Janice smile and says that they're fine, she then asks if others besides them are invited to his beach house? He replied that yes but he is not sure if they will come. She nodded. Zedd was just checking on his phone when suddenly he felt someone lean in, it's Janice placing her head on Zedd's shoulder, He kisses her forehead said to ask if she wants to sleep? She nodded and Zedd put down his phone and place his head beside his girlfriend. The two close their eyes forgetting the Liam, Mike problem by sleeping it off. 

Buck's POV

Buck looks at his husband who is sleeping adorable, he grabs his phone and took a picture. Eddie then replied if that goes anywhere he is dead. He smiled and hugs him. They were tired as yesterday they had a shift and it finishes around 9 PM and they had to wake up around 4 AM to head to the airport.  He is so excited for some reason that he and Eddie got invited to this party, true he was shocked at first but right now he is just a fanboy.

Shawn's POV

Shawn grabs Charlie's attention who is listening to something on his headphone. He asks what did Charlie asks about Liam and Mike.  He told him that he just ask if they know each other as he heard that they know each other, he added that that the two were friends back then but nothing more. He nodded and Charlie goes back to what he was doing.

Mike's POV

He finally finishes the book. Knowing that the flight will take a long time he brought a new one to read but he puts it in his other bag which is on the top shelf. To grab it, he needs to pass Liam who is busy writing on his notepad. He then looks at Liam who is really focused, it reminds him of that time when he tried to answer some questions on his homework, he is so determined on answering Mike's homework so that they can go out along with his other friends to this restaurant that just opened up.

Now the doctor is hesitating if he should proceed or not. 

"Um, Liam-"
