"I-ii-i-i don't know!" I sigh.
I had no idea what other to say or do. I stood there motionless, speechless, waiting for them to respond.
"What do you mean you don't know?" said Joss perplexed, still under the shock.
"I-i-i..." I tried to explain but Leo cut me off.
"I told you we shouldn't have trusted her. She or more specifically 'it' is one of their robotic creations and NOW she knows everything we are!" He scolded his friends, pointing at me all the time but avoiding eye contact.
It's the first time I've ever seen him that angry but that doesn't mean he can call me 'it':
"How dare you! All I did was confess that I had no clue how I ended up here and all you did was accuse me of being a robot and a spy for them!" I paused for a minute then continued "I am a human just like you are and I deserve to be treated like one not like an 'it'! Besides you have no idea what is the feeling to wake up in complete darkness, trapped in a room. And to discover that you don't remember anything at all, not even you're name. Then, those creatures appear out of nowhere and treat you like trash and dump you in a cell where people like you believe you're an 'it'!"
"Then how do you know your name?"
"You still don't trust me, Brian? I believe this tattoo will answer your question."
He walks towards me, inspecting my wrist very carefully.
"This is really weird. I have never seen or heard that phrase before. The thing that is weirder is that where we live only royal people get tattoos. The norms like us are not allowed to have any unless you come from another corner of the world then maybe..."
Joss objects: "I don't think so. I've seen many people who come from around the world through the portals in the exit gateway but none resemble us or Roupy included. They would have colorful or darker skin colors or different apparitions. And Roupy does not resemble any of the ones I've seen. My guess is that she is one of us and she is of royal plood." And he bows in front of me as if affirming what he just said.
"No, no, no, that's impossible!! Me, of royal blood, it doesn't seem right at all!"
It's just a lot of information to process. I can't be a princess or anything related to it! I don't know it doesn't seem like me !
"One thing I know is that you don't act like a princess at all!" Leo smirks. "You're rude".
"Look who's talking!" One day I'll adapt to Leo's strange manners, I hope.
Then I notice that Adam has been silent all this time and hasn't said a word. He's not much of a talker anyway. I imagine him drowning in his thoughts in a far away land dreaming of the girl of his dreams.
Sometimes I wish I could be like him, escape reality in a blink of an eye. I could use it a lot especially right now where I feel like my world is upside down.
It's just not fair not to remember anything about yourself when there is no one who can explain who you really are- were. My life is a mystery I have to unlock...
Whatever that tattoo is and whatever it means, it doesn't have to change who I really am. Who am I anyway? That, I'll have to figure it out myself.
I crawl into bed though it's still too early because I really need some time alone to replay everything that has happened today. I close my eyes and wait for my thoughts to drag me away to another world...
