Chapter 13

"H-how did you do that?"

I turn around and I'm surprised to find a pale Raven creeping behind my shadow.

"Do what?"

"T-the attackers they all froze in their place at once b-but how?"

That, I don't even know myself. For some reason, I thought it was some kind of dream. I mean I don't have superpowers, do I? I bet I ran away somehow; I was so angry I couldn't distinguish what was fake from what was real.

I couldn't really answer the question, so I changed the subject.

"Why are you here? What happened to I-guess-I'll-leave-you-die-here-because-you're-a-liar Raven?"

"Look I'm sorry. I really am, but you owe me an apology too!"

"For what? For trying to protect you? Sometimes you have to lie if you know the truth is gonna hurt someone. Besides it wasn't me who held you at gunpoint and used you as some item to trade and betrayed you. You can't expect just some 'sorry' to solve everything."

"I didn't mean it like that. I just thought things would have gone differently if you were honest about who you were."

"Look you mentioned Ruby. What was I supposed to say? I don't even know who Ruby is! I didn't want to disappoint you! Oh yeah its me your supposedly dead girlfriend who doesn't remember a thing."

"You know what? What it's in the past stays in the past. I just hope you'd forgive me. I know it's been hard on you; Ad told me everything about you and..."

"And?"

"I-i w-wouldn't be able to live with the guilt if I had to lose you again."

And as if I saw a tear roll down his cheek.

I approach him slowly and pull him into a tight hug.

My heart wants to say 'I love you', but my head keeps on repeating 'I don't even know you'.

I squeeze his hand he squeezes mine.

We stare into each others eyes: those dreamy blue eyes...

"I'll take that as a yes. I've really missed you. I'll do anything you want. You are the reason of my happiness; without you my life's a havoc. I'll do whatev..."

I brush my index finger on his puffy lips ending his talk, just like the day we met here.

I look straight into his eyes and speak in a soft tone...

"Take me home, will you!"

...and for a moment just for a moment I think a saw a wink there.
