TW: Mention of sexual assault
I spring up in my bed, breathing hard. My head and heart race, both spiraling out of control from the nightmare.
Not again. He's gone. He's been gone for years.
Carefully, I slide out of bed and go to the bathroom. I splash water onto my face in attempt to calm my nerves. Then, I turn off the lights and head back to bed.
"Angel? Are you alright?" Adrien asks, propped up on his elbow.
I sigh and hug my arms, "I just had another nightmare, I'll get past it."
"I thought you were done with those." Adrien notes.
"I guess not." I reply.
He sits up and moves over towards me, his arms go around me and my face buries in his chest. His hand runs through my hair and trails down my back.
"You're safe now, Angel, I'll protect you." He whispers.
I release a shaky breath and nod my head.
Adrien Leads us back to my bed and lays down with me, arms tights around my torso.
When I was nine, my dad sexually assaulted me. When my mom found out, she divorced him faster than I could tell the story and then a month later she got a new boyfriend, my current step dad. I prefer to call him my actual dad, it helps push the pain away.
Still, I would constantly have nightmares about that day. Sometimes I would stay awake all night because I was so scared of having those memories come back. It's given me so much trauma that Adrien and I never did do anything intimate for the first eight months of our relationship.
I stopped having the nightmares but the memories still reside with me.
Eventually my eyes grow heavy and I fall back asleep in Adrien's arms.
Morning
When I wake up, Adrien still has his arms around me but he is very much awake.
"Good Morning, Akira." He says, kissing my cheek, "how are you now?"
I turn towards him, "better, I guess. It was a dreamless night after I fell back asleep."
He nods and kisses me again.
