Kadence's Point Of View
Cyrus took my brother and I to school and the day went by fast. I sat with Cyrus at lunch, we didn't talk, I was to worried about what was happening after school. I'm wearing blue ripped jeans, black T-shirt, and a red flannel with some ankle high boots. I guess I dress like a tomboy.
"Come on, let's head to third block." Cyrus said. We left a little early.
I accidentally bumped into someone. "Watch where your going, lumberjack freak." She pushed me. It's one of our schools 'mean girls' as many people call them. I stood up, getting close to her. Her name is Jocelyn Archer. She has a brother named Jason Archer.
"What did you call me?" I asked.
"A lumberjack freak." She said with a smile. "And then I did this." She pushed me back a little, I didn't stumble or fall but I did back away. "You got a problem?" She asked.
I look away and smile. "Come on, Kadence, let's go." Cyrus said, grabbing my wrist.
"Yeah, get your feral mutt before I have to show her who she is messing with." The girl said, looking at Cyrus. "You're cute though." She had this smirk on her face that made me want to wipe it right off. I pulled away from Cyrus and punched her dead in her face. Right where that stupid smirk is. She is one of those girls that thinks she's better then everyone else because she has a little bit of money and daddy buys her everything she wants.
"Oh you are going to get it." She said, walking towards me and pushing me again. I punched her again, this time in her nose.
"This isn't no pretty girl cat fight, this is a, 'I'm going to knock your pretty in pink ass out." I told her. Some people in the hall had their cameras out and were recording us. She didn't make any move to fight back so I let Cyrus drag me to my class and then walk to his. I'm probably going to get called to the principal's office, again. I sat down and waited for my name to get called to go to the office.
Once the teacher started class he handed out our test papers. I got an F. "Third F on a test in a row. I am calling your mom." It's not my fault I hate this class and I hate science.
"It's not the only call she is getting." I told him and sigh as the phone starts to ring. I grabbed my bag.
"I guess you know why, bye Miss Robinson." He smiled and I nod.
"It's for kicking the blonde bimbo's ass. Probably won't see you guys for a few days. Bye class!" I smile, waving at the class as I walk out. I walk down the halls and into the principals office. I plop down in one of the chairs in front of him and smile. "How ya doing Mr. Francis?" I asked him.
"Don't have that tone with me, I am not your friend. I saw the tape. You almost broke that girl's nose. I convinced her parents not to file charges but here you are thinking it's funny." The principal said.
"She called me a feral mutt." I told him.
"So you hit her?" He asked me. "Let adults deal with these situations."
"You guys wouldn't have done anything. Her daddy wouldn't let you. You'd probably be paid to put it under the table."I laugh.
"Miss Robinson this is not funny. It's not a joke. You are suspended for two weeks. Your father is on his way up here to come get you." The principal said.
"Tray isn't my father." I told him.
"Your step father then. Go wait in the hall." He said, handing me a slip of paper saying that I am suspended. Tray got here not long after and went in to talk with the principal. He came out, looking disappointed as he walked out, me following behind him.
"You have to stop with this Kadence. This isn't the first time I have had to come up here to deal with this. Your mom and I are tired of this." He sighed.
"Don't talk to me like you are my dad. You aren't. My mom can deal with me you are just my ride home. Your my brothers dad, not mine." I told him and he went quiet.
We got home and he let me out the car. "I have to go back to work, stay here and your mom will be home soon. I get off a little later tonight. Your brother is going home with a friend and I'm going to pick him up when I get off." He drove off after I walked inside and sat my things down, I feel bad about what I said to him but I couldn't work the courage up to say sorry.
I called Dean and told him I was out of school and I could meet up with him at the diner. He questioned why I was home off from school early and then told me where to go, so I walked. Cyrus is still in school so I couldn't get a ride from him. On my walk the only thing I could think about was my father and how he would react, what he would say, what he would do, everything.
It didn't take long and I was there. Looking at the same black Chevy Impala from the picture of him and my mom, my heart is beating out of my chest and I cant hardly breath. I haven't even went inside yet and I'm terrified. I hesitated but walked in. I'm about to meet him. Oh my god. I'm about to meet my dad. I looked around the almost empty diner and I saw him sitting in a booth by himself looking at the menu and sipping a something from a mug, maybe tea or coffee. I walked over and sat down. "I-I'm Kadence."
