Clover tapped her fingers on the table and let out a small breath. Her eyes glanced from the clock to the breakfast plate she had made for Jessie. It was 11 am and Jessie was 7 hours late.

A knock echoed through the house, Clover jumped up and ran to the door. She opened the door, smiling when Jessie stood in the doorway. Her smile disappeared as fast as it appeared.

Jessie had dark bags under her eyes. She ran her fingers through her hair, trying to neaten it. She had stayed up whole night working. Jessie did it regularly and it annoyed Clover. Although she would never admit that.

"Morning." Jessie greeted with a sleepy smile and gave her a small hug. Clover's face heated up, being so close to her, but the hug awoke the butterflies in her stomach.

"I'm sorry that I'm late, but because of what happened yesterday Captain Smith is giving us today off." She said that it's fine, but we only get off today."

Clover frowned, but decided that it was for the best, Jessie's head was dipping down from how exhausted she was. She allowed her partner into the house and closed the door behind them. They walked to the kitchen and Jessie sat at the table.

Jessie stared at the flowers and the note that was on the counter. She picked up the note and read it. Her hands trembled, but she took a deep breath.

Clover heated the food in the microwave and put the plate in front of her.

"Who's Nickolai?" Jessie waved the note in her hand, forcing a smile.

Clover's heart nearly stopped, and her face heated up to the point that she thought she was going to faint. She leaned against the table but couldn't look into Jessie's curious eyes.

"Just someone I met yesterday."

Jessie nodded and placed the note down. "Awh, you're going to get a boyfriend soon. How cute." She teased.

Clover shook her head. "No." She stuttered, but her partner rolled her eyes.

Clover was silent. She wondered if she was jealous, but there would be no reason for Jessie to be jealous. There were romantic feelings between them or so Clover believed.

"Anyway, thank you for the food. I should go home."

"No. Stay, please?"

Jessie stared at Clover, wondering what was going through her head. They hardly slept over at each other's house and if Clover was looking for a lover, wouldn't her presence be unwelcomed.

"Are you sure?" Clover nodded and took her hand once again. She led Jessie to her room, and they sat on her bed. "You can sleep in my bed and after that we can talk about the case," she said and smiled.

Jessie nodded, running her hand through her hair. "Won't you be bored, and I am a guest so won't it be rude to sleep?"

"It's ok, you worked whole night, so you deserve to sleep."

She smiled and wrapped a sluggish arm around Clover's shoulders. "I owe you one." Jessie's head dropped, her lips were centimeters away from Clover's, their hot breath mixed, but before their lips met Jesse's forehead pressed to her shoulder.

"Sorry, Vee. I don't know that I can still stay awake." She spoke. Clover smiled and gently pushed her down on the bed. Jessie pulled her down and she laid on her chest. Clover was silent as her face heated up, being this close to her felt nice.

Soon Jessie's breath slowed down and she fell asleep. Clover sat up and smiled. She stood up and walked to the living room. Her heart stopped when she saw that the door was open. She locked the door, trying to recall if she had left it open when Jessie arrived. She turned around and, on her couch, was Nickolai.
