                                                                        Chapter 4. the attic...

A FORCE DROVE ME UP THE STAIRS TO WHERE ALL OUR FAMILY HEIRLOOMS WERE PUT EXSPECIALLY SO NO ONE WOULD FIND THEM. Well not really in the attic but in a big room in the attic that was locked up-and could only be opened if you knew the combination to the lock on the front of the door.(Meaning my sister and my parents.)

I opened the door and went in deeper, into this uncharted territory of the house, into the part we never use or go to in the house.  The lights clicked on with an audible click, lights flicked on with a dazzeling brightness, which fried my eyes until they were used to the brightness.I looked around, all around me were boxes, it was all I could see, full of aged books black and white, and with pages full of ancestors. I went to a pile of boxes to my right and started to look through it.

I was drawn to a picture of a women with red hair and bright green eyes, it looked old... and it was painted! It was a painting of a women. But all of a sudden a force knocked it out of my hands, the picture slipped from my grip. The glass frame shattered on the floor. I dropped to my knees and looked at the shattered glass, dumbfounded at what I'd just done.

Gingerly I picked up the glass and the picture seperately and a peice of paper flaked off the back. I looked at the paper in surprise because in elegant handwriting was a note:

To my dearest great-great-great-great grandson.  I know you will find this bloody wierd that I knew you would be the one to find this note but I am a special person person, and you're going to find out... so are you. I have hidden a diary for you to read, it is a diary called Daricut. You will find out what you are in that. And why.

But when you find out, you must not tell anyone, you must do as your told it is imperative that you liten to what I tell you in that book. Dont worry, you will be safe, and we will call you when the time is right, trust me you will know.

                                                                                                                                          Love your

Great-great-great-great Grandmother

                                                                                                                        Ida May McLarco.

My hand shook as I read the page over and over. After that I ran out the door and promised my self that I would back to search for the diary. The door clicked and locked into place as it shut, I kept on walking with a new found curiosity. When I finally walked into the kitchen Alaura was sitting at the kitchen table eating a pop tart. She looked up and smiled.

"Where were you? I looked in your bedroom and you weren't there."

" I was in the attic looking for something"

"Like what" She asked confused.

"Oh... something." I said vaguely, I wouldn't tell her. Obviously my Granmother doesn't want no one to know... so well,I guess I won't tell any one. Wait. Isn't my great, like five times over grandma...dead ? I quickly got some ceral, so I wouldn't have to figure that one out, and quickly started to eat it, because I has managed to look at the clock, and alomost choke on my cereal. It was seven-thirty, we usually left at seven forty-five.

After I had my shoes on and we were  standing out at the bus stop di I think of Aleene. My stomache plummeted and my heart rate picked up a notch. Butterflies erupted in a frenzy as the bus pulled up and I walked onto the dirty steps onto the bus. When I sat down in my seat I waited in a silent frenzy as I waited for Aleene to board the bus and my heart rate soared as we came up to an old victorian styled mansion. Niiiccce, I thought to my self. It looked like the kind of house people payed alot of money. Or the kind people from the older word would buy. My mind whispred.

I jumped up when she sat down next to me with a curious smile, she turned to look at me.

"Hi Jericho. How are you?" she asked me with peircing golden orange eyes.

"F-fine" I said.(okay yes, I studdered.) she just laughed and said." Good,good."

And at that moment... I think I fell in love with her. I loved the way she moved her raven black hair. Swift and with great pride. The satin smooth skin... I (without even realizing it) reached over and carressed her cheek. She just looked at me and smiled "What was that for, Jericho?"

I was in shock at what I'd just done..."I don't..I don't know." I said  honestly. She looked at me with somoe pained look as if she was fighting some internal force, but decided otherwise for she gently lifted her slender hand and brushed it against my cheek, than her hand slid to my jaw bone. She smiled ans put her hand back down.

"I guess that means were equal." She said than laughed."Although your face is a little bristly," with that I blushed. I could feel the color burn in my cheeks. She stared at me for a moment... "Oh! I'm sorry- I didn't mean to hurt your feelings!" She said like I'd hurt her feelings!

"No, you just...well it's okay." I said smiling, I felt my self going even redder as I talked. She was so soft, like satin, much, much softer.

"What are you thinking?" She said with a curious look on her face

"Nothing....Nothing, really." Her eyes drifted down towards the back of the bus hallway towards her brother, like he could hear all of what we said and by the look on his face, I, surisingly, thought he could.
