Chapter 2. new girl...
I SPENT THE WHOLE SUNDAY EVENING IN MY BEDROOM ON THE LAPTOP DOING RESEARCH FOR THE INDUSTRIAL PERIOD FOR HISTORY. It was hard, so hard to where I even had to call my best friend Nathaniel and ask him help. He is short but skinny and had unruly curly brown hair and dark probing brown eyes that could be scary if he glared at you if he was mad.
Me on the other hand am tall, and could probably pass as a eleventh grader, although I am only in ninth grade. After I'd finished with the druggishly long report on the industrial period I fell asleep.
And I waited... The dream screamed at me, out of nowhere I was in the same place as last time following the same family who I already knew would lead me into the woods and start convulsing...
And yet I still... I don't know, something drew me to that dream... I wasn't sure why but I was very draw n to that dream. Because something told me I could stop, but did I want to? The answer was obvious to me. It has a strange power and for some reason I felt like I was connected to it...
I jumped up just as the alarm clock started beeping. I pushed the stop button, got up and got dressed. I quickly ate breakfast than brushed my teeth because I had to learn the hard way that cereal and mint tooth paste did not mix to well. I cringed at the thought.
I quickly put on my shoes and turned to go.
"C'mon , JER! We have to go!" Alaura yelled from the bottom of the stairs. I jumped out of my train of thought and grabbed my back pack and ran down stairs and out the door catchng the bag of lunch Alaura threw towards me before she jumped on the bus and I followed behind.
She sat in the back with all her freinds her seventeen year old freinds. She was in the Elventh grade. I sat with my freinds. Today my seat was empty and alot of my freinds were gone, but I was still stuck on my seat being empty, it never was empty, "yes" I said to my self ,more room for me I thought to my self as I sat down. than I noticed we stopped.
We never stopped. My sister and I were The last ones to be picked up. But all of a sudden a girl got on the bus. I swear time froze. She was beautiful. She had long raven black hair and golden ocher colored eyes with a orange tint color too, almost animal like. She looked right at me ... and smirked! She came right over and sat right next to me. Than another version of her got on the bus with shoulder length raven black hair and the same color eyes. He was older at least seventeen. He sat in the back behind my sister.
I turned to look at her and she had a shocked look on her face. (probably the same look on my face) I concluded. Than my mind turned to the girl sitting right at my side. She had her face pointed straight ahead and never spoke a single word to me, I wanted to say something but ...well embarrassingly enough, nothing would come out. So I just turned my head to where I was facing straight ahead too and sat there thinking about what I could say to this girl in which words could not describe.
As the bus dropped us off at the entrance to the school I walked behind the girl hoping she might speak to me, hoping i might get a glimpse of her sweet voice-or no! she might have a deep voice...talk about ruining the moment. That would suck, I would hate it if her voice was deep and creepy.
I noticed her brother was walking alone, he too looked ahead never saying a word-his facial expression never changing. It looked like he was concentrating on something. Hmm I wonder if that's how the girl was too. I argued with an internal force for what seemed like forever before I chickened out of asking the mystery girl's name.
I sat at the breakfast table deep in thought until one of my friends walked up to me and asked if I was all right. i said I was than continued the internal battle raging inside me.I jumped up out of my day dream when the five-minute bell rang. I ran to my class, rushing, to not be late.
All my classes went by in a blur. All I could think about was about that girl with the long raven black hair and golden orange eyes... who never spoke a word to me. The worst part was that she was in the same grade as I and she was in my history class, and what do you know where does my teacher Mr. Dole set her, next to me ...of course. Mr. Dole might have said what her was but I was to busy thinking about what her name was to actually hear what her name was. I know I'm stupid.
After I'd gotten on the bus, she came up the isle and sat next to me. It was like this for the next week till finally I said. "What, am I your riding buddy or something?" she looked at me for a second than I swear I could have feinted. She talked to me... she actually talked to me! I don't think I'll ever forget those few words for the rest of my life.
"No your just the only opened seat." she said in a quiet bell like voice. Okay maybe that wasn't the opening words I was hoping for but the thing was, was that she TALKED TO ME!!!!! After talking to her like a snot a kinda felt bad ,so I said "Oh, sorry. I f you want me to I'll move. And you can have this seat to your self." not that I wanted to move or anything. " By the way I'm Jericho." Oh crap, I cant believe I just did that. I bit my lip waiting for her response. She shocked me by letting out a little giggle.
"What?" I asked confused.
"Nothing, you are just so funny you Jericho, you." I was finally drop dead confused. "I don't get whats so funny?"
"You're very different you know. From alot of people." She said quietly.
I blushed, yeah I know embarrassing right. "Umm..Thank you... I think."
With that we talked so long that we forgot about time and all of a sudden we were pulling up to my house's driveway. "quick-before I get off... please tell me your name?" I asked pleading. She hesitated and as I started to walk down the step to follow Alaura I heard a bell like voice say .
"My name, My name is... Aleene" And with that I got off the bus the whole while mumbling the name "Aleene, Aleene..." SUch a lovely name to go with a lovely voice to go with a lovely face...
There never was one minute I didn't think of the girl who gave me butterflies with just one fleeting look.
