Chapter Twenty-one: Synthesis

Ratchet and I reunited again while Megatron wanted to give us a tour of the warship. We were taken to the command room where he showed us their cloaking device. They let Ratchet out of his cuffs too but kept me how I was. Ratchet was ready to attack Megatron when he showed him the cloaking device. It's impressive, what they have but why is he showing us this? He just wants to impress us enough to help him complete the Synthetic Energon formula.

Like teasing Ratchet about seeing Cybertron back to its beautiful self. I saw right through it. He just wants it to go back to normal so he can conquer Cybertron all over again and enslave anyone who won't pledge allegiance to him. And he wasn't afraid to agree with me. He continued to argue that even though the Autobots would still try to stop him, at least they'd finally have a planet worth fighting over. But he's not going to stop there. Earth would be next. Or first.

Ratchet asked if there would be any assurance that Megatron would leave humankind alone and not instantly kill us once he gets what he needs. Megatron gave none. But still argued the point that Ratchet was Cybertron's only hope of ever seeing life again. We were then taken to a lab.

On the way there, Ratchet told Megatron to had me over to him instead of making me go through this torture. I was handed over to Ratchet who tried to take the collar off but Megatron stopped him. I agreed to walk beside Ratchet the rest of the time we're here. Once we arrived at the Lab, we were allowed unrestricted access to the equipment. We were shown everything and continued to walk somewhere.

"Even if you manage to reconstruct the Omega lock, it is a mystic force. I've come to my senses. The notion of scientifically replicating its capability is pure folly. Madness, even," I said annoyed.

"But how will we ever know for certain, (Y/N) if we do not try?" Megatron pushed a button opening up the floor.

A trooper nearby put a metal face mask on me.

"And how can we not try, when the means finally lie within our reach?" Megatron asked.

We looked down to see Earth as we were in space. But that wasn't all. We saw a lot of troopers building an Omega Lock. And it was almost done! But they've done it. The Decepticons actually built the most powerful device in history.

"By the Allspark, you've actually done it!" Ratchet said shocked

"Decepticon engineering," Megatron said proud, "It will not take long for this Omega lock's drives to be fully operational. All that is still needed to restore our home is the cyber-matter to launch through it."

"Which requires a stabilized formula for the production of synthetic Energon," I worked out.

"I have every confidence in you and your pet, Doctor," Megatron said to Ratchet

Ratchet was quiet, "We'll do it. But then you already knew that, didn't you?"

I looked at Megatron who had a grin on his face. He did know. So, we got to work with Knockout and Shockwave. This was the first time seeing Shockwave too. He only has one eye and one hand. He's a cyclops! He doesn't blink either. And I thought Soundwave was scary. So, the work started slow and a lot of complaining on Knockout's side. He used to run this lab but now he's everyone's gofer. That must be hard on him. To save him a lot of trouble, I got a lot of things myself and only ask for his help with big or heavy things.

Or if I needed to go somewhere. But it was rare that I did ask for his help anyway. I hope he appreciates what I'm doing for him. And I use my manners, unlike Ratchet and Shockwave. Maybe then Knockout wouldn't moan so much. But I also wanted to get the shock collar remote away from Knockout. For obvious reasons, it's human-sized but still easy to press the button. I need to take it away from him. It's also the one thing keeping this collar on.

I think someone engendered it to have a lock on the clips. And the key is in the remote. Just to get Knockout close enough, I asked if he could take the leash off since no one is holding it but he told me no. Didn't even get close enough to take the remote. This will be harder than I thought. So, I just worked in the meantime. All I did was type on one of the computers and let the others do the chemistry part. After a long time, I heard Ratchet mention he found the final piece of the puzzle.

He completed the formula! Shockwave left because Megatron called him and let Knockout take care of us. Now time for a distraction. Ratchet activated a machine and threw something in it causing it to explode. The room filled with smoke as Knockout called for assistance. Ratchet transformed and drove off. I used the end of the leash to take the remote from Knockout and ran after Ratchet. We ran/drove for a while until bumping into Megatron. Megatron stood on Ratchet who told him if he killed him, he will never get the completed formula.

Ratchet transformed as Megatron let him go and told him that Knockout and Shockwave still had the completed formula on record. Oh no! We were taken back where it was confirmed that the formula was complete and ready to use. As for us, Megatron threw us outside where we saw the same Predacon that crushed Magnus' hand.

The Predacon wanted revenge after we blew up his clones. He started to beat up Ratchet as I quickly tried to find the button to unlock the collar first. When I did, it was finally off and I had an idea for what to do with it. But Ratchet had something to tell the Predacon who was ready to kill him.

"Just get it over with. It's not like I could ever live with myself, knowing the role I played in humankind's extinction," the Predacon sneered at him, "But if you want to avenge your cohorts, don't stop with me! Keep avenging all the way to Megatron!"

It transformed, "What?! What do you mean?!"

"Your high and mighty leader wanted your Predacons exterminated and simply allowed us to do his dirty work for him!" Ratchet stood up.

"Nothing but a false claim to save your own spark!" The Predacon picked him up

"But you consider yourself an intelligent being, don't you?!" I asked him, "Then rise above your base instincts and analyze the situation."

The Predacon dropped Ratchet who continued to explain, "We followed the trail that day with the desperate hope that it would lead to an Energon mine. We had no idea we would find Shockwave's laboratory."

"The coincidence barely seems plausible!" It said

"Because it wasn't a coincidence. The Energon was clearly planted to lure us there by Megatron!" I argued.

"Hmm. Why would my liege wish to destroy us?" It asked.

Ratchet sighed, "Having just been on the receiving end of your might, one theory springs to mind Megatron fears you and any like you."

That made him angry and went on a rampage! But that's not our problem now. Ratchet went to contact the Autobots and disable the cloaking device while I made use of the collar. I made it a little smaller so only the shocker was viable. I'm going to use it as some sort of lasso and use it against the troopers. We're in the Endgame now.
