Chapter Eighteen: Separated

It's been a few days since Ratchet left me at the hotel. I haven't really come out. The workers bring me food, cleaners come in and clean and I just let them do their job and I don't do anything else. I miss him. I miss him so much. To the point I want to go looking for him. But if I did go to find him and if I do find him, he might be angry that I disobeyed him. And that I'm at risk of being taken by Decepticons. I'm not afraid.

I just want to be with him. Because I can talk to and understand animals because of the experiment, I asked the local animals that come to the balcony to look for Ratchet. I gave them all three descriptions of his vehicle mode, his robot form and his holoform. Just in case he's in either form. So far, they've found nothing. But they're not stopping the search. Where are you, Ratchet? There was a knock on my door. It was the cleaner that usually comes in. I let her in and kept to myself, as always.

"I hope you don't mind me asking, why do you stay in your room all day? Don't you have family, friends, a lover to visit?" She asked.

"My family, friends and lover are all missing. But I have people looking for them," I said.

She nodded, "can you tell me how you all got separated?"

I was hesitant. I should probably change the story a little. Not tell her everything. I told her what happened while saying all the bots were humans. My cover story was that we all lived in the same place and we were a rich family. But Megatron was jealous so he tried to take our house and our money from us. The rest of that cover story, I can't remember. I told her about what happened the day Ratchet left me here, excluding the part about the war and me finding out I wasn't 100% fox like I thought I was, and how I'm now trying to find everyone.

So almost half of my cover story was true. The cleaner pitied me but I told her not to. We'll all be together again soon. I know it. She offered to do something to help take away the stress I'm under. There was a fair at a farm nearby. Once her shift was done for the day, we could go together. I mean, I can give it a go. I am a little stressed. So, once her shift was done, the two of us went to the fair. There are a lot of people here. I kept my hood up in case some Decepticons were lurking nearby.

They know what I look like. I don't want to be taken by them. So, we had some fun, won some prizes, got some food and rode some of the small rides here. But I escaped at one point to go to the wheat field. I'm probably not allowed among the wheat but I want to remember Ratchet. I still think of him when I see wheat. I sat down in the middle of the field and just stared off into space. Mostly remembering the good times I had with Ratchet.

I took my collar off and looked at the tag. My name is still engraved on the tag. But I felt something on the other side. I turned it around to see initials. Our initials. When did this get here? I don't take my collar off so how-? Ratchet probably took it off when I was asleep and engraved it. That's cute. I put my collar back on and left the field. I caught up with the cleaner again.

"Hey! You disappeared. Where were you?" She asked.

"I was sitting in the wheat field," I said.

"Because it reminds you of him?" I told her that.

I nodded, "I just want to be back with him. I want to feel safe again."

"(Y/N), you mentioned you gave your boyfriend a secret. What was the secret?"

I looked away to the wheat field again. I guess I can tell her.

"It's only with the heart that one can see clearly. What's essential is invisible to the eye."

I can't take this anymore! I have to find Ratchet. I apologised for leaving again and ran off to find Ratchet or any of the Autobots. Either will do! I ran and walked for ages. There wasn't anything at the hotel that I needed to take with me so I just searched for anyone. After a few hours, a car pulled up next to me. It didn't look like any of the bots so I kept walking. But then Raf stepped out, stopping me!

But, that doesn't look like Bee. The car, yes but the paint job is different. Bee spoke to confirm it was him. I asked if they had seen Ratchet or anyone else. They found Ratchet in a scrap yard wanted to be left alone and rust. What? Why? Because we lost? I guess changing his mind isn't an option anymore. Raf told me that him and Bee were going to the Harbinger to have access to equipment and a groundbridge.

Well, I was in the Harbinger for a while before I met everyone and Ratchet has taught me and Raf a lot about Decepticon technology so we'll have to work together to get it working. We eventually arrived there and got to work. We got some of the equipment working but not the whole half of the ship.

At one point, we thought we did but then everything shut down again. But we soon heard a familiar voice. It was Ratchet! He's finally come to his senses! He told us what we were doing wrong and got to work. Nice to see him again. Once we had everything working, Ratchet got in contact with Agent Fowler.

"What is it now, lord Megatron?" Fowler asked answering the phone

"Agent Fowler, it's Ratchet!" Ratchet  said

"Ratchet? Where's Jack? Is he with you?" June asked worried

"No, he is not," Ratchet answered, "Listen, we don't have much time. I have taken a tremendous, yet calculated, risk in contacting you. Hopefully, the Decepticons are not monitoring their own frequencies as closely as they no doubt are those of the humans. I am transmitting our current coordinates."

I was the one who did that.

'Ratchet, there's a ship approaching,' Bee said.

"What?" Ratchet asked.

"Ratchet, have you heard from anyone else? What about Prime?" I hung up on Fowler and went outside to see what the commotion was.

The ship was Cybertronian. Ratchet confirmed it to be an Autobot ship too. Once it landed, out came Bulk, Arcee, Wheeljack, Jack and Miko! They're all okay! We hugged each other hello and we saw a new bot. He looked like Optimus but with some sort of shoulder pads and he was mostly light blue. This was Ultra Magnus. Optimus' key lieutenant during the war. Well, we have our new leader for now. Let's hope he knows how to defeat the Decepticons.
