Something's Up

Vera's POV

„Who is that?" - Renn asked in confusion
- It's my friend, Patrick. Patrick, it's Renn - my ex husband.
I introduced them to themselves and got kinda nervous of reaction from both of them

„Oh, hey. Nice to meet you.. I guess" Renn said, shoke Patrick's hand and got further from us
„Nice to meet you" said Patrick. I could crealry see fake smile on his face and it made me even more nervous

- So! You guys wanna talk or sum?
I didn't really know how to act and I tried to clean the atmosphere but it didn't work as I expected it to. Renn responded fast,
„Actually I have a few things to do in town, i'll be back later. You both have fun... I guess.." he said in arrogant tone and walked to the door.

„Damn, is he always like that to guys you talk to?" Patrick asked
- No, I mean a situation like that have never really happened yet. Maybe he needs some time, he needs to accept the fact that I also have friends. Some that are guys and some that are not
„You go to a bar with women also? Interesting, Vera" he smirked
I blushed a little, wow Patrick said something like that. THIS Patrick said something like that. It means he has to think about me in a similar way I am about him. He liked our little „friend" date at a bar.. wow
- Gosh stop it
I giggled and hit his arm. I felt so comfortable when he was around.. it was un thinkable.
I laid my head on his knees and fell asleep.

Patrick's POV

*the next day*

I opened my eyes slowly, Vera wasn't around. I was confused cause Renn wasn't anywhere around as well. I immediately remembered that she might gone into the children's room. When I entered she was laying on Gytta's side of a bed reading books for her while Fynn was dead asleep. Goddamn, I never seen a more perfect woman. The way she wanted to be the best for her kids, even tho she's going through hell. My heart melts everytime I look at her

- Hey. I whispered to her
„Hey! Omg you are here" she got super excited, her little smile covered her whole face as she run to me and hugged me so tight I could feel her heartbeat.
- Of course I am. I'm not going anywhere until I make sure you're alright
„You really don't have to do this for us, I don't know what did I do to deserve you. Thank you" - Vera said
I didn't say anything. I just smiled at her and kissed her hand

After a while I asked where Renn was since I couldn't find him anywhere out here
„Oh Renn.. we got into a little fight in the morning. Funny cause literally yesterday I thought things were good between us. I was just nice to him and I thought he finally grew up but no. We got into a fight and he just left me with the kids alone here.. I-„
- Shh, okay I get it. Come here, don't worry about any of this. He's ungrateful if he left you here like that. You deserve so much better
I hugged her and went to get some coffee.

*15 minutes later*

„Patrick Patrick!" Vera ran out of the hospital room, closing the door ans screamed. She seemed super excited
- Heyy what'a going on V? I asked in confusion
„Guess what!"
- What's on?
„The Doctor said that kids' condition lets them go home earlier. I just have to sign up the papers and I can go home!"
- Omg that's amazing!! I'm so happy for you - I said with excitement as I was soo happy to see her happy
„But I don't know what to do with Renn, he doesn't even pick up the phone like he doesn't care about kids.." the smile vanished from her face
- Okay, just sign up those papers and I'll take you home. You will leave him a text message

I watched her going into the reception and helped with packing all her stuff.

*at home*

- We're here. I wish you all the best, it was a pleasure to take care of you and your kids V - I said while my eyes watered a little.
I already missed her beautiful smile, I've known her for 3 days but I got used to have her around
„Thank you, really thank you Patrick. For everything. I can't remember the last time someone done this much for us"
„But wait! I'll leave you my number, if that's okay?" - she said with a shy smile on her face
- Yes sure! Here's mine just in case. Call me whenever you want. Bye!

I started going home. I was feeling the weirdest I ever felt and yet the best.

Vera's POV

- Kids! Dinner's ready. Come down to eat please - I said as I finished setting the table
We sat together and I was so happy I couldn't actually believe it. Me and my kids together, they were happy and mostly important - healthy.

The afternoon went amazing until I saw this one text message.. it changed things a little. Renn really didn't think sometimes.
„Vera, where the hell are my kids? Where the hell are you?" - the text message was saying
I couldn't believe my eyes. Wow, I literally texted him we're going home 2 hours ago... plus he's the one that left us.
I decided to call him. Oh how annoyed I was in that moment

- Renn, what the fuck are you doing? First you left us because of that stupid fight in the morning and now you're making things look like i'm the one that failed? Oh hell no, this is the last time we talk. For your information we are at home. I left you a text message 2 hours ago. You can see kids but only when I am around too. I'm sorry but I can't do this anymore.
I was about to add one more thing when he hung up. I decided to get some tea to calm myself down.

„M-Mommy? Are you okay?" - Fynn asked
- Yes honey. I just need to calm down a little
Not even a second passed when he ran straight to my bedroom and came back with cozy blanket and my favourite book.
„Come here, lay down and I'll cover you up. I will make you tea or whatever you want to have, I love you mum and get some rest cause you deserve it like no one else" - he said
I got speechless. This kid has a heart made of pure gold. Tears started falling down my cheeks and I kissed him softly

*hours later*

I took a sip of my tea as I looked at the card with Patrick's number he handed me today. It was super late. Kids were sleeping and I needed someone to hug.
Not a minute passed by and I was already calling him

„Hello?"
- Omg hi, i'm so sorry for calling at this time. I hope I didn't wake you up, did I?
„Oh Vera! It's okay, I wasn't sleeping anyway. What's the matter?"
- I-I just had a difficult afternoon. Things got a little complicated and-
„I'll be there in 10 minutes"
He hung up and I did a little scream of excitement and dozens of different emotions.
I suddenly heard a loud knocking. It was him. It was Patrick. He came to my house in freaking 10 minutes just for me. It felt like a dream

„So won't you let me in?" - he giggled and I hugged him without thinking twice. In that moment our eyes met like they never did before. He got closer to my lips without any warning and I couldn't resist kissing him. After a minute we stopped kissing and I felt a huge regret of what I did. I was afraid he's gonna hate me for it. I didn't know if he wanted it too

„Well, that was..." - Patrick said quietly and I didn't know if he was going to say something bad or something nice
- No no no I'm sorry, it's my fault. I shouldn't have done that in the first place. I'm such an idiot. I shouldn't have call you and you shouldn't be here as well. I'm so-
„Gosh stop it. I wanted to say that it was magical."
- Wait? - I got super confused and turned on
„Can I kiss you once again?" - he asked and I didn't even think twice before kissing him the most passionate I ever kissed anyone
