Chapter 1: Dominique
“Don’t forget you have the launch dinner and party tonight for Mr. Biggs liquor line.” Ava, my assistant and best friend, reminded me.
I slapped my hand against my forehead. “Damn, how could I forget about that?” I sighed.
“Well, it’s my job to remind you. Remember, you must show up on time and fashionable to the Launch Dinner because the dinner is only for the most exclusive of the exclusive. You’re blessed to be invited to this dinner so it’s suggested that you act like you’re grateful for this opportunity.”
I grinned at Ava. “Well, the spokeswoman can’t be late for something that her face represents.” I’m Dominique Deoria (my friends call me DD). I’m 23 and a model. My daddy is Sebastian Deoria, and he is the owner of the record label, Raw Thunder Entertainment. I’m a daddy’s girl, and he helped me get into the modeling industry. I’m 5’9 with a coke bottle figure and thick thighs. I love going out, having fun, singing (although I can’t sing), and hanging with friends and family. I’m single and looking, but not expecting anything.
Ava giggled. “Have you heard about some of the fine guests that invited to the dinner?” She questioned.
“Ava, you’re my best friend, out of all people, you should know that I’m not interested in dating right now.”
She mugged me for a moment. “Girl, even you’re confused when it comes to your dating life. I’m not going to pretend like that Trinidadian model wasn’t in your bedroom a few months ago.”
“Don’t even bring her up, she was test actually. I do find women attractive, but I think men are strictly for me.” I responded.
“You think or you know?” She sipped on her coffee and glared at me.
“I know, smartass.” I glared at her before laughing.
“Anyway, I heard that hot rapper, Chinno, is going to be at the Launch Dinner and Party.” She said around-the-bush like.
I rolled my eyes. “Chinno? I haven’t heard of him.”
“You sing one of his songs all the time.” She reminded me.
“I do?” I questioned.
She nodded her head. “You love playing his song, That’s Me, when you’re in the car.”
“That’s Chinno?” I questioned.
“Hell yeah!”
“Baby girl so sweet, she call me daddy while I’m dropping that treat. She’s a lady in the streets, but a freak in the sheets. She drive all these niggas crazy, while I can say that’s all me.” I sang before laughing.
Ava pouted her lips knowing that she was right. “Now as I was saying, I heard he’s going to be there.”
“Why’re you telling me? The way that song talks, I think he has a woman in the life.”
“The media hasn’t said a damn thing about a girlfriend plus you know some rap niggas don’t completely tell the truth in their songs.” She reminded me.
I rolled my eyes. “I need to call Lori just to make sure that she has my outfit set for tonight.”
“Yeah, handle that. What do you want for breakfast?” She questioned.
“Eggs, grits, pancakes, sausage, and a fruit salad.” I said dreamy-like.
She giggled. “I’m on it.”
