🎵 touch - sleeping at last

a week had past, the same gloomy weather still present. it was good that the group had stocked up in time, not wanting to go out during these harsh storms.

sasha was finally able to get out of bed, not just for the bathroom, and hop around a bit. her ankle wasn't swollen anymore, but she still couldn't put much weight onto the injured area. luckily, she didn't have a concussion, and her headache was barely there. every once in a while, the pain would flare up, but it wasn't as bad as it was the first couple of days. connie was there everyday to help her eat and change her bandages, as well as use the bathroom.

the constant storms started to annoy sasha. she just wanted to see and appreciate the sunlight and blue skies again. her massive headache from when she woke up a week ago kept her from taking in the welcoming morning weather. she hopes she sees the sun again, soon, or maybe a rainbow. anything other than booming thunder, hard rain pour, and streaking lighting will give her some hope.

she's careful to sit up and place her feet on the creaking floorboard. the noise was canceled by the thunder, though. she tests to see if she can finally put some weight onto her right ankle. the test fails as she instantly retracts her foot, wincing in pain. one day, she thinks.

before she can fully stand up from the bed, connie is already peaking his head through the door.

he smiles and enters. "yay! you're awake!" he walks over to sasha and holds his hands out to help her. "do you want to go downstairs for breakfast? it's really nothing special, honestly. just grits and canned soup i tried to heat over the fireplace." he chuckles.

sasha throws her arm over connie's shoulder. "yeah, that sounds great." she grins. "i consider that a five star breakfast." she jokes.

the pair take their time walking out of the bedroom and walk to the staircase. "yeah, i tried my best. i feel like we're starting from scratch when it comes to cooking, or basically anything."

they approach the top of the staircase and stare down the flight of stairs. connie bites his lip and thinks.

"hm, i didn't think about how we're gonna get you down." he says.

sasha gives his shoulder a squeeze. "i could always slide down." she half jokes.

connie laughs. "that would be fun, but i don't want you getting more hurt."

she nods, and looks down at the staircase too. they both shoot their heads up when they hear footsteps walk toward them.

"jean! can you help us?" connie asks.

jean sighs, stopping in front of them. "what?" he says with annoyance.

"can you, like, carry her downstairs? i made breakfast for everyone and wanted her to have some, but she can't get down with her ankle."
