There was a lot of commotion in 12 Grimmauld Place, much to Evalina's displeasure.
She was sat at the table where everyone ate, her cat in a carrier, and her clothes and wand and a few spellbooks in a small trunk. She listened as everyone rushed about and panicked.
The bushy-haired girl came hurrying into the room, looking flustered, with a snowy owl on her shoulder and a large ginger cat in her arms as Harry Potter also came in, trying to put on his trainers.
The snowy owl flew off her shoulder and landed on top of a cage in the room.
"Have you got everything packed?" said Hermione worriedly.
"Nearly. Is Ginny alright, I heard Mrs Weasley shouting about something?" Harry replied.
"Long story, although she did fall down two flights of stairs... Still, Mrs Weasley's patched her up. We would've been able to go but now Mad Eye's complaining that we can't leave unless Sturgis Podmore is here, otherwise the guard will be one person short."
"Guard? We have to go to King's Cross with a guard?" said Harry incredulously.
"You have to go to King's Cross with a guard." Hermione corrected him before she caught sight of Evalina on a chair at the table.
She dropped her voice, "And her, too. According to what Fred and George told me."
"Why? Why is she so special?"
"I don't know, Harry! It's just what I heard. If we don't leave soon, we're going to miss the train..." said Hermione, distracted, looking at her watch.
Molly Weasley came hurrying in too, looking overwhelmed.
"Fred, George, Ginny, Ron! GET DOWN HERE NOW!" She shouted.
Hermione jumped as though scalded and went upstairs to get her bags, stating that she would get Harry's too. Meanwhile, Harry began stuffing Hedwig into her cage, which Hedwig hooted loudly about.
"Leave your trunk and your owl, Harry, Alastor's dealing with the luggage. You're coming with me and Tonks," said Molly quickly.
"Oh, and Evalina, you're coming with me and Tonks too," said Molly.
Evalina looked up from the table and nodded slightly, before a large bear-like dog trotted in, making Mrs Weasley set off again.
"For goodness sake, Sirius! Dumbledore said no!" She shouted, but when the dog didn't move, she said, "Well... on your own head be it!"
She sighed despairingly, before gesturing to Evalina and Harry.
Evalina picked up her trunk and carrier, not trusting whoever Alastor was with her previous wand.
Mrs Weasley wrenched open the front door and stepped out into the weak September sunlight, a small reminder of the summer sun.
"Wait, where's Tonks?" asked Harry, looking around for her as they went down the steps for No.12, which vanished when they stepped on the pavement.
"Oh, she's waiting for us just up here," said Mrs Weasley stiffly, averting her glare from the dog.
An old woman greeted them on the corner. She had tightly curled grey hair, which made Evalina frown.
"Wotcher, Evalina. And Harry," she said, winking.
She quickly turned back into herself, which made Evalina's frown lessen and she gave a quick smile to Tonks before Tonks turned back into the old lady.
She checked her watch, "We'd better hurry up, hadn't we, Molly?"
"I know," moaned Mrs Weasley, walking a bit quicker, "but Alastor wanted us to wait for Sturgis... if only Arthur could've gotten Ministry cars. But, you know, Fudge wouldn't let him borrow so much as an empty ink bottle these days. I don't know how Muggles manage travelling without magic-"
