Third person:

@Compound

It was hard to describe the look on Yennefer's face. Hard to understand that pain. The realisation that her mother - the person who is supposed to love and cherish you the most in the world - abandoned her and kept her daughter hostage whilst torturing the child.

The queen was very quiet after that. Every move she made was sluggish, dull. And no matter what her friends did, she never seemed to change.

She never slept.

Rarely ate.

Never left the gym.

It was gruelling for both her and her companions. To see someone they love in so much pain.

They weren't sure whether Yennefer's mother was still alive. No one was really sure of anything. Except that she had been there, in the 40s. No one could get those glaring eyes out of their head.

Pietro tried. Really tried to get Yennefer to do something good for herself. He constantly followed her around with bananas, bowls of porridge, ice cream - mostly meals as beneficial as possible - the ice cream as a last hope. But when the angel refused to even eat her favourite dessert, no one knew what else could be done.

They were all sat in the living room, sprawled out across the many sofas, when Yennefer trudged into the room, eyes on the ground. She had not said a word to them in the three weeks since she had found out.

The goddess eventually sat on the edge of the coffee table so everyone could see her.

"Her name was - is - Amaliel. She was a full-blood angel like my father - blonde-haired and blue eyed like all the others. Yet she attracted his attention because she was so.. different. Never followed a rule but always charmed her way out of it. Didn't care that he was the king and should be treated with respect. I suppose he liked that - the escape.

When my mother died  it took its toll on Azrael. He threw himself into running the kingdom, into raising me. After a time, we were happy. I mourned a woman I never knew but loved as though she was the one always by my side. But all this time.. she was here, on Midgard, of her own volition."

Everyone was silent at first. Slowly, Pietro got up and walked over to his love, and wrapped her in his arms, wiping away the tears.

Natasha knelt down in front of Yennefer, took her hands in her own, and whispered, "Yen, you are strong enough to get through this. We will always be here for you."

Tony suddenly spoke up as though this was any normal conversation, "You know what's funny? That file was the only file Fury managed to access, he said the encryption on it was weak compared to the others. Don't you think its odd that they find something like that after months of searching just as Yennefer arrives on Midgard? As though someone wanted us to find it?"

Everyone slowly turned to face the billionaire as they finally understood.

"They're coming," Steve muttered after a long pause.

In the following moment of silence, rumbling sounded from outside.

"Stark, please tell me you've got some lawn maintenance being done," Bucky growled.

"Only on the weekends. What day is it?"

"Wednesday."

A bomb crashed through a window somewhere in the house.

"Suit the fuck up." Everyone turned to look at the goddess, who looked as though she was ready to burn the world to the ground.
