-Hum, Poe-kun how come you haven't come up with a new novel yet? Normally the maximum time you spend writing is two weeks.
He said, placing a bag full of sweets on the table.
I just looked down, as something prevented me from saying a single word.
Next, Rampo-kun rummaged in one of his inner pockets and took out his glasses. He put them on and seconds later I heard him whisper:
-Oh, I get it....
Did he know what was wrong with me, but why would he use the glasses just to know that? It was quite unlikely that Rampo would use his power to find out my feelings and pains, so I erased that idea from my mind.
Next, he climbed up on my desk and took out a popsicle, the kind that little kids love to pick up in all sorts of shapes.
-Oh, I know, maybe you have mystery block. It means something is keeping you from writing novels. Don't worry Poe-kun, I'm here to help you with that," he said, painting a determined expression on his face.
But did the mystery block exist? Well Rampo-kun seemed to be serious about it so I didn't give it any more importance and nodded my head.
Note from the writer:
Rampo knows perfectly well that such a block doesn't exist; besides what Poe-kun is suffering from. That's why, without him noticing that he knows it, he tends to lie to him in such a banal way.
-Humm, Poe-kun, have you ever eaten this? -he said, slowly wiggling the paddle he was holding. My mouth watered. To which I calmly replied:
-Oh, no, Rampo-kun. I never eat sweets.
The young man's eyes widened in surprise, and then he pulled out another lollipop identical to his own from the bag. He subtly opened it and handed it to me.
-Go ahead, try it.
I looked at it curiously and popped it in my mouth. My hair this time was covering my eyes, so Rampo-kun couldn't see my pupils dilate at the delight on my palate.
Wait. He had just offered me a candy. He never offers his sweets to anyone. He even keeps them in a safe, how was that possible? I was about to ask him about it when...I was speechless at what he said.
