The lift stops at my apartment floor and I step out, just to find someone sitting outside of my apartment door. She's holding her knees, resting her head above it. She always reminds me of a lost kitten whenever she does that.
"What are you doing here, Yuki?"
I ask, even though I'm no longer surprise.
"Waka, you're finally home."
She gets up from the cold floor.
"You'll really get sick if you keep doing this."
I say while opening my apartment door and she goes inside as soon as it opens.
"And stop treating here like your own."
"Waka, do you have something to drink?"
She opens up the fridge door and takes out whatever she finds there.
"Why bother to ask if you're getting it yourself without permission?"
I ask while leaning on the sofa, looking at her.
She gulps down a bottle of drink before lying down on the couch.
"So what's going on?"
I ask, while walking into my bedroom.
"I broke up with my boyfriend."
She gives a short reply.
"What a surprise."
I say in a flat tone.
"We're been friends for so long. Can't you at least comfort me a bit?"
She sneers at me.
We went to the same high school and I knew her after she dated my cousin briefly. She used to asking me for things that my cousin likes or loves, asking dating advices and else. It just goes on like this afterwards, becoming her habits to come whenever she start dating or broken up.
I come out from my room after changing and give her a bored look.
"Sometimes I wonder if you realized how many times you have broken up."
She gets up and rushes to smacks the back my head.
"You're the worse, Waka!"
She's complaint and goes to the balcony. I follow her, bringing an ashtray with me.
"I said do not smoke in my apartment."
I snatch the cigarette that she just lighten up and put it out.
She glares at me but say nothing, just looking up to the night sky.
"But I thought this time will be different, you know."
"You said the same thing before."
"Just shut up and listen, won't you?"
She looks angry so I rise up my both hand, acting like I'm surrendering.
"I know that I'm hopeless whenever it comes to love. But I'm always sincere and loyal. So I'm rea~lly sad each time it failed."
She says earnestly, starts making me to feel bad again for her.
"Why do you even bother dating people like him anyway?"
I try to change the topic.
I remember she talked about this guy, a normal average office worker and seldom takes her out for date or something.
"He really is a good guy, you know. But things just don't work out for us."
Here she goes with her one sided opinion.
