aaron jerks his head up when he hears the doorbell ring and the clinking of silver utensils being placed on the table. he races his sister to the door and they end up both trying to open it. aaron finally gets her hand off of it and opens it.
"hi abbey!" aaron and katie both say together. abbey giggles.
"hey guys!"
"come in!" aaron says happily. he feels his heart skip a beat when she walks in the door and he snaps out of it and katie's right next to his face.
"kiss herrrrr..."
"ulgh! get away from me katie!" they both start laughing and katie shuts the door. linda comes through with a hot pot of some sort of greenish-reddish chunky liquid.
"everyone!! dinner's ready!!!" everyone sits down at the table and she grabs one of her many, many dinosaur ladles that aaron gets her every year for her birthday, and scoops some of the soup into every bowl. everyone says thank you and digs in. its surprisingly really, really good!
'i knew that ladle was special" was all aaron thought.
when everyone was excused, aaron invited abbey into his room. they built a blanket fort and crawled under it after turning on a dinosaur fact show to get inspiration for their drawings.
around 5 minutes later, breaking news rudely nterrupts their show.
"ugh. news usually isnt even important anyway." aaron grunts.
"wait, lets hear what it says!"
BREAKING NEWS: NEW COLD CASES HAVE BEEN MASSIVELY SPREADING AROUND THE WORLD. WE ARE BRINGING BACK MASKS FOR THE YEAR 2024 UNTIL WE FIGURE OUT WHAT IS HAPPENING.
aaron and abbey listen with their mouths hanging open in astonishment as the news reporter talks on and on.
