As Biana recited the conversation between Fitz and Keefe, Sophie was stunned. She knew Fitz liked her, but Keefe did as well?  For some reason, that made Sophie feel better than she would've thought possible. And their deal for Keefe to stand aside until Fitz had tried to win her back... How long had Keefe been waiting? Sophie felt like probably the worse friend ever.

"I have to fix this," Sophie said, half to her friends and half to herself.

"But you need to talk to Fitz first, so that way..." Biana's voice trailed off. But Sophie knew exactly what she meant.

"I know. And that's exactly what I'm going to go do. But I would rather do it sooner rather than later... before my nerves get the better of me," she admitted.

A few moments of silence passed, but then every other girl started to nod. Sophie's spirits lifted, and she rushed and gave each of her girlfriends a hug. Well, except for Glimmer. When Sophie got to Glimmer, she paused, before settling on offering her hand for a handshake. Glimmer looked at it, but then took it.

"I know you and I don't know each other very well," Glimmer started, "but I can see that you have what it takes. And you are finally taking your own destiny in your hands. Good luck."

Sophie nodded and smiled. "Thanks."

Glimmer then pulled her hand away. "Ok, sappy pep talk over. Now, go get 'em!"

Sophie checked her nerves one last time, before racing out the door not looking back even once. She knew what she had to do. She ran through her plan in her head. Find Fitz first, and then talk to him. Make it clear that you just want to be friends. Then try and find Keefe and sort this all out. Confess and live happily ever after! Sophie knew that it would much more complicated in real life than the simplified version up in her head. But she was ready, and she had an outline. Her self confidence of finally solving a problem that had haunted her for years was daunting, but also empowering.

Sophie slowed her jogging down to a fast walk as she entered to go down a hallway that led outside, and for the 2nd time that night ran into someone.

"Gah!" Sophie cried, but the figure supported her and they both stayed on their feet. Sophie's head cleared from the daze it was in from the run in. She looked up to say sorry, and she saw Fitz.

"Sorry for nearing plowing you over," Fitz apologized in a casual voice. But when Sophie looked into his eyes, she saw nothing but a fierce intensity in the teal depths that didn't even come close to matching his voice. But she decided to play along for a moment until she could get her thoughts together to form a coherent way to tell him what she wanted to.

"Hey. It's fine. I wasn't looking where I was going, so I guess we both played a part in it," Sophie reassured Fitz, as she gave him a small smile.

"Well, it's a good thing I bumped into you," Fitz started cautiously. "I wanted to talk to you about something."

Sophie started to panic on the inside, but she kept herself calm and collected on the outside as she nodded. "Ok."

Fitz gave her once of his famous smiles as well, the type that use to make her heart flutter so much. But now, it was just a trait she admired about him, and nothing more. He took her hand, and led her outside to a bench. Sophie couldn't help but wonder if this was the same bench where Fitz and Keefe had made their deal. For some reason, Sophie started to count the seconds. What she was counting for, she didn't know, until 43 seconds later, Fitz's crisp voice interrupted her.

"It's been a while since it was just the two of us," Fitz started. Sophie didn't say anything, and after 21 seconds more Fitz spoke again. "I've missed this," he whispered, as he took Sophie's hand. She looked at their hands, but a hand on her face lifted her eyes to meet Fitz's gaze.
