chapter two;
lunch time blues.AS SOON AS THE BELL RANG, DEEDEE WASTED no time bolting out of the class and heading straight for the cafeteria. She didn't understand why she was so worked up about the whole Alice thing. Like—fuck, she had just moved to Forks. There had to be girls out there that were definitely cuter and kinder and less homophobe-y than Alice Cullen out there, right?
"Hey, Deedee! Over here," Jessica waved. She was already sitting down at the table surrounded by Angela, Eric, and two other boys whom Deedee hadn't met yet. The blonde plopped down right next to her fellow junior, and Jess wasted no time throwing an arm around her and introducing her to everyone.
"Ang and Eric said they've met you in class already, but you haven't met Mike and Tyler." Mike seemed decent, albeit a bit dopey. And not in the pothead way. Tyler gave off extremely flirty vibes but Deedee had a feeling it was all just an act. Whatever the real case was, they did seem friendly enough to hang around with.
"Hey guys, I'm Deedee. Thanks for letting me mooch off your lunch table, was getting a bit worried someone else was going to try and sell me off into another friend group." That earned her laughs from the said group of teens around her.
"Nah, sorry Deeds. Jess has been talking about you in our groupchat like you're a million dollar diamond, so that means you're stuck with us for eternity," Eric smiled. That filled Deedee up with warmth, it was nice to know that any of her fears of being hated and burned at the stake at this school were just her being irrational.
"Speaking of the groupchat, we gotta add you in it girlie! Hand me your phone," Tyler instructed before adding in a please. Deedee just shrugged and cooperated, what was the worst that could happen with being in a groupchat with all her new friends? These guys seemed to always be communicating with each other anyways, so she didn't think she would ever get bored of it anytime soon.
Tyler was quick to add all of the group's contact info into Deedee's phone, and it surprised her at how easily he remembered all of their phone numbers. He must've really loved his friends, and besides being an absolute flirt, Tyler did have a funny side to him if Deedee's contact picture was anything to go by.
"It's Deedee from Dexter's Laboratory, figured it was only right. Y'know, cus of the name," Tyler smiled sheepishly.
"Weirdly enough, that's the first time I've ever been compared to her. Thanks, Tyler," the brunette smiled back, "I'll be sure to harass all of you later." Jess pulled her closer after that sentence, and Deedee had no problem leaning into her shoulder. She had always loved affectionate friends.
