"Pssst! Fran- wake up!" The feeling of someone desperately shaking me snaps me out of my slumber.

"Fucking hell, Daph! What?" I ask, staring back into my friend's gleaming blue eyes. She has a mischievous smile plastered across her face as she watches me unwillingly force myself out of the comfort of my bed.

"Don't you remember our promise? Last year we said we'd watch the sunrise together again and I though this would be the perfect time to do it."

I let out a groan, "You thought that this would be the perfect time, did you? Daph we've had about 3 hours sleep between us. Can't this wait?"

"No! As a matter of fact it can't, now come on!"

My legs reluctantly swing out of bed and onto the cold wooden floor beneath me. Daphne and I throw on Slytherin jumpers over our pyjamas and slip into some comfortable shoes before sneaking down the staircase. It's far too early in the morning for any of the prefects or teachers to be on patrol which makes escaping from the castle a much easier job than usual. It's strange walking through the school like this. There's been so much going on this year that it's never really been quiet. In a way it's a welcomed break for my mind. But, just as Daphne and I are passing the Great Hall, the sound of footsteps begins to echo behind us.

"Get behind the pillar." Daphne hisses at me, her eyes startlingly wide. We both huddle into the hiding space, desperately wishing to blend into the wall. The footsteps are getting closer now and my breath is only quickening by the second. Just then the figure of a girl, still wearing her ball gown, darts past us and up the stairs. Daphne smacks a hand to her mouth in an attempt to stifle a laugh. "You know who that was, don't you?" She says, beaming at me.

"No, do you?" I give her a puzzled look.

"That was none other than teacher's pet Cho Chang! By the looks of it she's doing the walk of shame."

"That can't be Cho- she told me she was sleeping over with Hannah Abbot."

"Oh Fran! You really are incredibly naive sometimes. That was her cover story, silly! She's not going to outright say that she's off to shag some Hufflepuff boy. Feels bad for Harry though- poor thing."

If Cho wasn't sleeping over with Hannah then who was she there to see? I'll ask Cedric tomorrow, I decide, maybe he'll know. I push the mystery of Cho's sleeping arrangements to the back of my mind and continue on with Daphne. We manage to make it out of the castle without anymore interruptions or close calls and begin the long climb up one of the quidditch towers. The teachers tower is the tallest and, as Daph and I learnt last year, it's one of the best spots on school grounds to watch the sunrise. I pull my watch out from the pocket of my pyjama shorts to see that it's currently 7:38am. The sunrise won't be for another 20 minutes and the chilly winter breeze is making me wish I'd worn more layers. Just on cue, Daphne hands me a cigarette and her lighter.
