Eddie Kaspbrak was sitting on his bed legs crossed reading a book. It was a book about birds and Stan had forced him to read.

It was a Sunday morning and all the losers would be at church. Eddies mother didn't go to church and so that meant Eddie didn't either. So here he was stuck inside while he waited for his friends.

"Eddie bear!" His mother called from down the hall.

Her voice was the same fake sweet voice she put on when talking to him.

"Coming mommy." Eddie called back, closing the book.

He sat it on his bedside table and walked over to open his door.

He walked down the hall looking into each room of his house trying to find his mother.

"Mommy where are you?" Eddie called still searching his house for her.

"I'm in here Eddie bear." She sang sweetly from the lounge room.

He walked into the room and saw Sonia sitting in her usual spot on the couch. She was watching television and her eyes were glued to the screen even as Eddie walked in.

"Yes mommy?" Eddie asked.

Sonia was eating a block of chocolate, her eyes still on the television.

"Eddie, you've run out of medication. I just checked, can you please go to the drugstore and get some more." Sonia says finally looking at her son.

"Yes of course mommy, I'll go now." Eddie chimes making to leave the room.

Sonia makes a snort like sound. Motioning for Eddie to come over to her.

Eddie knows the drill. He makes his way over to Sonia and leans down, planting a kiss on her cheek.

"Off your go!" She demands after he stands up.

Eddie rushes to the kitchen. He grabs some money already on the bench and puts it into the pockets of his red shorts.

He heads out the door and into the garage. He pushes his bike outside onto the pavement.

He hops onto his bike and heads down the street. Making his way to the drugstore, the warm wind blowing his hair.

Eddie enjoys being out and tries to get out whenever he has the chance to. His mother has finally started to let him out more often and Eddie doesn't want to ruin it.

He finally gets to the drugstore and hops off his bike. He parks it onto the side of the building making sure it won't fall over.

He heads into the drugstore and walks up to the counter. Eddie spots a blond girl sitting down on a chair behind the counter.

Her name was Greta Bowie.

"Hi, I um, I'm here to collect my medication." Eddie says his voice smaller than he wanted it to sound.

She rolls her eyes and walks over to grab his prescription order.

"You know that they are-" She starts to stay.

"Gaz- placebos" Eddie finishes for her, "I know, you told me last summer."

She stares at him as if trying to remember when she had said such a thing.

"Right, I remember. You broke your arm." She says rolling up the paper bag and handing it to him.

"Yeah." Eddie says remembering how he broke it, a shiver goes down his spine.
