Chapter seven

" I don't think they would let us go that easily"

Just then, someone teleported in the room, interrupting our moment- wait what? Can they actually do that?!
"Dinner is ready-" Groaned Subaru, rolling his eyes behind his bangs, trying to act emo and cool.
He paused once he got a good look at me
"You look terrible!"
" Why, thank you," I scoffed
" That wasn't a compliment."
"Oh really? I hadn't noticed"
He tsked at me AGAIN and leaned against the doorframe with his arms crossed
"Blondie I thought we told you not to come in here"
"Well I-I"
" Make sure Reiji doesn't find out" he didn't seemed too bothered himself. I cant imagine anything really bothering him.
"Ok thank y-"
"Now out. Both of you. And do something about that" he gestured to my wet hair "...I dont want the carpet to get wet"

Yui helped me dry my hair and waited for me to change out of my drenched uniform, saying that we will be late for dinner. Since Reiji threatened that this will be the last time he cooks for us I couldn't let that happen

We got there and I waited for the brothers to sit down since I didn't want to sit on their spot. They seem like the type to be angered by something like that and every cell in my body wanted to avoid that from happening.
I ended up sitting between Subaru and Shu.
Shu didn't say anything and was busy listening to music which is a bit rude. He wouldn't even touch any of his food.
Subaru seems mildly bothered by my presence despite how we never had the chance to talk properly. Ok to be fair he seems bothered full stop. I can tell he is not a bad person however. I hope he warms up soon.

Reiji is a pretty awesome cook I'll give him that. I tried to eat as much as I could to not offend him( a̶l̶s̶o̶ b̶e̶c̶a̶u̶s̶e̶ i̶ d̶o̶n̶t̶ k̶n̶o̶w̶ w̶h̶e̶r̶e̶ m̶y̶ n̶e̶x̶t̶ m̶e̶a̶l̶ w̶i̶l̶l̶ c̶o̶m̶e̶ f̶r̶o̶m̶)̶

Yui looked really nervous and we kept making eye contact. I nodded towards her food signalling her to eat. She took a bite, looked around and locked eyes with me again. That happened a few times before Laito realised the pattern and came next to her.

I think Shu is asleep now... he stoped moving a while ago.
I nearly went ahead to check his pulse but remembered he doesn't have one in the first place.

"You haven't eaten much, little bitch. You need to eat properly or you could become anemic," thats oddly nice of him to say.
He then offered to feed her which ruined the moment. She didn't seem to like the suggestion either but was too polite ( or scared) to say anything. Reiji told him to sit down and that its bad manners to get up during a meal yadda yadda as if his other siblings had impeccable table manners.
Laito smiled at his older brother and sat back down after telling the poor girl that they would " continue this later".
For her safety and well being, really hope they don't.

I took another bite of my food and nearly chocked as Shu came back from the dead. He stood up, not even bothering to open his eyes and quietly complained about something ( probably his brother) being a pain and left with his hands stuffed deep into his pockets. I groaned at his actions and continued eating.

As soon as he closed the door behind him, Reiji started to speak
"Nothing good can come of anyone who grows up spoiled rotten" no one paid attention to what he said, I just nodded to be polite and stared at my plate

My attention then shifted to Lanato who seemed to prefer talking to a stuffed animal than the girls sitting near him
" Teddy, what would you like to eat next? Ooh, I know! Lets have some banana snowballs!" the owner of the voice then tried to pick the banana snowball up with a fork; it broke in half. He smiled at himself and started stabbing them all, laughing hysterically as they crumbled apart, his fork making hard contact with the china plate creating unpleasant sounds.
No one said anything about it as if it was considered a 'normal' kind of  behaviour. Well, for him at least.
I can't figure out whats wrong with this guy- or all of them to be honest; why are they so sketchy?
It looks like they just ignore each other as much as possible hence not bothering with what Reiji had to say or what(/who) Kanato is stabbing.

"He wont even make the effort to attend our monthly dinner party..." Reiji continued to complain, mostly to himself but not quiet enough so that we wouldn't hear. I dont know if he is upset or just disappointed. I tapped Subaru's shoulder to ask him who his brother is referring to and he shook me off and leaned away from me like i had a disease 
He then spoke a bit louder, trying to grab everyone's attention for once

"That will be all for today" Subaru stood up as fast as he could, threw his napkin on the table, kicked my chair slightly just to annoy me or something like a fourth grader and walked out. The triplets followed in a more calm manner. I stood up and tucked my chair in waiting for Yui.
She looked at them leave, took the hint, and stood up too slowly
"Your table manners are deplorable" Complained the only remaining vampire in the dining room. He stared at Yui and posed with his hands on the table, one on top of the other like an uptight old man. His little outfit doesn't help either.
" one of these days" he continued " I will take you aside and discipline you thoroughly. Understood?"
" yes sir"
I opened he door for her
"You may leave. (y/n)?
I turned around
"I need to speak to you" Yui walked past me and winked. Hopefully that meant " I'll-wait-outside-"
I shut the door behind the platinum blond girl and came closer to the vampire.
"I got a phone call from the school informing me that you didn't attend any classes. Is that correct ?" He raised his eye brow knowing the answer already
"You see I did attend one," I started, getting more and more nervous.
" and I was planning on attending the rest don't get me wrong! But a certain someone wanted to test if i can breathe under water,"
I paused. He didn't seem impressed at my excuse
"Don't worry yourself about it. I of course assumed this happened when I saw that someone walking around, stinking of chorine,"

He got up from his chair, came in front of me and bowed

"I would like to apologise on Ayatos behalf. What he did was unacceptable and will not be tolerated. I will make sure nothing like this happens again"
I nodded at his apology wanting to change the subject
"Would you like help doing the dishes?" I asked, since i was compared to Yui, eating like a pig. I then mentally kicked myself. Why did I ask that? They have servants don't they?
He smoothed his old person clothes and smiled. I guess the creepy smiles run through the family
"You should rest"

Turns out I was wrong, Yui didn't wait for me.
So I went to my room and entered the attached bathroom in hopes of getting a bath. I looked at myself in the mirror, trying to determine how long it would take the bites on my neck to heal. I leaned my head to the right and held my hair up to get a better view of my neck, that was when I noticed Shu having a bath, fully clothed.
But he wasn't here when I came in-?
" um sir...what are you-"
"Keep it down.. not so loud. Im just trying to have a bath" i wasn't even loud..?
"Fully clothed?"
"If it bothers you so much then undress me"
"No no this is fine! This is perfect! Forget I said anything!"
"Hhm? Didn't you come here hoping to see me naked?"
"No I just came here to have a bath"
And here I was, thinking that having a 𝑝𝑟𝑖𝑣𝑎𝑡𝑒 bathroom would give me some 𝑝𝑟𝑖𝑣𝑎𝑐𝑦

He opened a cobalt blue eye and smirked,
" Want to join me?" I silently declined his offer
" You are all brothers but... why do you look so different?" I asked.
He closed his eyes again " We have different mothers." He paused, looking like he is about to fall asleep
"Reiji and I are from the same mother... and the triplets are from a another mother"the last words were quiet and it gave me the impression that he fell asleep
"Ah, I didn't know. What about Subaru?" My question seems to have woken him up just enough to answer
"He's also... from another mother" he answered before sinking into the water. I instinctively grabbed his hand, he seemed taken back by my reaction and spaced out.
"Shu" I called out as he gripped my hand way too tight
"Shu it hurts! Let go!" he looked at me, then my arm and pulled me in the water.
" let me drink your blood" was probably his way of apologising
" what?"
He grabbed my hair and pulled me closer towards him. I know I can't get away so I let him bite me. I flinched against his wet shirt as he sank his teeth on the wound I already had. I held my breath waiting for the pain was too much but it never did, he was much gentler than the last two and i must have gotten used to it by now.
"Mm not bad" he commented as he pulled out "Not as good as her but a decent substitute" he licked some blood off his fangs. I didn't know if i should move away from him now or if that would offend him but he wasn't that bothered about keeping me close.
"So thats why he chose you to come live with us, huh?"
