Elena's POV
Time.
Such a fragile thing. It ticks like a clock.
And once you take that last breath... the clock stops. You never realize how important that last tick is. Until you see their last breath, the last beat of their heart... their last tick, right in front of your eyes. That last breath still haunts me to this day. And it will never stop.
Because I was the reason for their last tick.
I was the reason for my own fathers last breath...

"Your starting to go cross eyed with all that zoning out" a voice pulled me out of my thoughts. Looking back to see who it was, I was met with a the chocolate brown eyes of my mother."Is everything alright?" She asked with a concerned look. "Yeah I was just thinking" I told her. She's had it hard enough with my dad being gone, and it finally seems like she's doing better.
But why can't I be doing better as well?
"Nate called, he was wondering if you'll be training the new recruits today" mom informed me.
Nate Mendez, my other best friend. We grew up in this life together, we helped each other learn new tactics of fighting. Most of my decisions I run by him too. He is the most feared man in Spain, and with me being the most feared woman, people cower in fear.
"Yeah I'll go" I told my mom.
I texted Nate telling him I'll be there in about 30 minutes. And that I was also bringing someone a long. I don't want to leave him alone in my house for so long. Who knows what he'll do.
Getting up from the stool, I start walking to his room.
I knocked on his door, it opened within half a second from putting my hand down. " get changed, we're leaving" I ordered. "And might I ask where your taking me?" He had that stupid smirk on his face, that smirk that I would love to punch off.
"Training" is all I said before walking back to my room.
I changed into black ripped jeans, a black cropped tube top with straps crossing over my chest and stomach. Even tho it is training, I know I'll be watching the newbies most of the time. So, I put on some black lace up chunky ankle boots. Lastly I put on my black leather jacket that use to be my fathers.
I walked out of my room and down the main stairs, to see Mattheo waiting for me. He had a plain white t-shirt and black jeans, along with more sporty shoes and a leather jacket.
I nod to him as he soon noticed me. I watched as his eyes raked my body, specifically stopping at the cleavage that was showing. "If you are done staring, I would like to get going".
He immediately stopped looking and nodded, he had a cold look on his face. I roll my eyes at his behaviour, I mutter under my breath"Lo juro, los hombres son tan innecesarios" ( I swear, men are so unnecessary)
Walking out the door, I saw my black BMW and started walking toward it.
I opened the drivers seat and got in. Starting the car, I heard the passengers side door open.
Already knowing who it was, I starting driving to the training center. While driving I couldn't help but wonder.
Is this actually a good idea? To be hiding from the enemy?
Wouldn't it make them look weak? All these questions but I never said one word out loud.
When Lorenzo first asked about Mattheo staying with me, I had the same questions. And I should have taken the chance to ask them, but of course me being stupid I didn't.
