Elena's POV
It has been a week since Mattheo moved in. Although he made flirty comments here and there, we talked more then I thought we would.

We had just gotten off a call with his father, it was the first weekly update and so far, nothing has happened.

I'm not surprised, they want to keep a low profile then strike when we least expect it. Probably the most used attack thought process. Even though we are using it too.

"Keep watching your main houses and shipments, I wouldn't be surprised if they would attack one of those" I told him. Although a part of me had a feeling they wouldn't attack a building. But a person.

"We have extra guards" he said with his head in his hands.

Just as I was about to speak again, the door bell rang. I didn't have anyone coming over, I walked from the kitchen to the front door, confusion all over my face.

As I opened the door I was put into a tight hug, I only know one person who hugs this tight. " Delilah, if you don't let go your gonna suffocate me" I said through breaths.

She giggled and let go. "It's been way to long, I've missed you" she said I'm a whiny voice.

"I have work, plus your an intern now you have really important work too" I reminded her. Delilah was a intern at a hospital. She's always loved helping people, also every time she hears her boss call time of death she has to hide in a closet just to cry. She's had to call time of death before and she said it was one of the hardest things ever.

I don't fully understand how it's that hard to call it. But it's easy for me to take a life, while Delilah does everything in her power to save them.

We are complete opposites.

"Ugh, speaking about work, the day you left I was called in. There was a huge car accident!" She exclaimed, "thankful no one died but one guy had a really big surgery, it was going so well but then-". She didn't get to finish her sentence, looking behind me I saw Mattheo walking towards us.

Delilah didn't try and cover up how hard she was drooling.

"Did you need something?" I asked him "I was wondering who was at the door" is all he said. He kept eye contact with me, not even looking at Delilah. Funny how he wanted to know who was at the door, yet he hasn't even looked at her yet.

"Delilah this is Mattheo, he's staying with me for a while" I introduced him. She didn't say anything. When he finally looked at her, he has his normal cold look. I'm guessing he doesn't like new people.

"I- um- hi" is all Delilah could spit out. Mattheo didn't say anything back, he just looked back at me. "You left your phone in the kitchen. I didn't answer but the same person texted you right after" he informed me, handing me my phone.

"Thanks" is all I said back. Mattheo nodded then walked away.

"Holy moly! He is so good looking, are you two a thing?" I laughed lightly at Delilah, "no we are not, we are business partners and that's all"  she nodded.

We began walking to my room, Delilah was one of the two people I allowed in my room. To me, my room is the safest place. That's why I don't like people in here, even the maids.

Opening the door, we both entered before I closed it once again.

"How have you been?" Delilah asked, she always asked that question. I hate any question that asks if I'm ok. I don't think it's needed, and it brings up emotions, which I hate showing.

"I'm fine, and don't give me the speech where you tell me you know I'm not fine. I'm fine and we leave it at that" I told her. She may be my best friend but I don't do opening up.

I used to tell her all of my emotions, she was there in my darkest of times. And I'll always be grateful to have a friend like her, but I can't bring myself to talk about my feelings.

"Alright, anyway has anything fun happened in your life? Have you kicked anyone's butt recently?" She asked all cheery. She may not agree with my lifestyle but she likes hearing when I kick some ass.

"No I haven't. And you know you could just say ass." I chuckled. She gasped "Elena you know I don't swear".

"You are so innocent" I told her. "I am not!" She said in a fake shocked tone. I laughed at her statement "I'm not! I've done some unholy things" she said in a loud tone

"Oh really? Does that mean you've lost your virginity?" I asked

She blushed "no not yet, you know I'm waiting for the right one. Most guys are mean or perverts. Sometimes both!" She exclaimed

I laughed "they'll come don't worry" I told her. Sometimes I don't understand how she can wait so long, but other times I wished I waited for that special someone. One part of me knows there isn't anyone out there for me though.

We continued to talk until Delilah got a call from the hospital. She said it was an emergency, which I completely understood.

We said a quick goodbye, then she left.

Once I closed the door, I heard footsteps behind me.

"What is it that you need Mattheo?" I asked without turning around. "Your little friend is quite interesting, seems a little too innocent for this lifestyle don't you think?", I turned around just to seem a smirk on his lips.

"If that is your way of asking if she's in my mafia, no she isn't. Even if she was it's none of your business now is it?" I said calmly.

He took a few steps closer, "I don't appreciate the snarky comments, you will respect me" he demanded.

"You are forgetting who's property you are on so I suggest you keep to yourself" I told him.

He no longer held a smirk, instead his face was filled with frustration. Within a second he had me against the wall with his left hand around my throat.

"I don't like being talked back to Elena, you will respect me" he said with anger laced in his voice.

Taking my right hand, I grabbed onto Mattheo's hand that was around my neck and twisted it upward, not enough to hurt but enough so his hand was off of me.

"Respect is something that is earned, you do not demand it." I told him in a clam tone. "I suggest that you and your anger issues stay out of my business and I will gladly stay out of yours" I told him.

He had a look of disbelief written all over his face. Satisfied with the outcome of the conversation, I walked around his large frame and into my room.

God he gets on my nerves.
