Read this chapter of you picked the Knight Bus
After going back and forth between the two options, you decide. "Let's take the Knight Bus."
Your dad smiles. "This will be fun! I'll go tell your mother. Remember though, this is your mother's first experience just like you. She never liked these kind of things. Oh, and we're leaving at 7:30." Your dad says as he walks out of your room.
You look at yourself in the mirror and try to picture yourself in a black robe and hat; you are giddy with excitement.
You meet your mom and dad downstairs; your mom looks nervous.
"Ready?" your dad asks. You nod. "Let's go!"
The three of you walk outside and you notice the sun starting to go down. Your dad walks over to the edge of the sidewalk and puts his right arm in the air like he's calling a taxi. In a flash, you feel wind whipping at your hair; then, a triple-decker bus is sitting right next to your dad. You gasp, stunned.
"What are you waiting for?" your dad asks.
"Come on, mom!" you yell as you practically drag your mom to the bus. As you board the bus behind your father, you notice an older man with very thick glasses, white hair, and blue eyes sitting behind the wheel.
"Hello! Take a seat! Where are you heading?" A young man, maybe seventeen or eighteen, asks you. He has large, protruding ears and quite a few pimples and is wearing a purple uniform that matches the bus.
You follow your father to take a seat in a chair, but instead you find beds. There are curtains over the windows and candles are burning in brackets next to each bed. Your father takes a seat at the closest bed to the front, and you and your mom sit next to him.
"We're heading to Diagon Alley," your dad says.
"Ok, Ern, take us to Diagon Alley," the man tells the driver. "Hold on tight!" he says as he grabs a bar attached to the ceiling. Your dad grabs a bar in front of you, and tells you and your mom to do the same. You hold on, but not very tight, thinking they are exaggerating.
The driver pushes on the gas, and the bus rockets forward. You aren't prepared, and you almost get flung backwards. Your knuckles turn white, and when you look over at your mom, she looks scared.
You look out the window; you see the bus heading straight for a tree, but it miraculously jumps out of the way.
"Did that tree just move?" you ask. You look at your father; he is smiling like crazy.
"Yes, it did," he replies.
"I'm Stanley Shunpike, but just call me Stan!" The man who greeted you yells over the noise of the bus. "This is Ernest Prang, but I wouldn't bother him while he's driving!" he yells as he points to the driver. The beds shift to one side of the bus as the bus turns.
"We have to be speeding," you think to yourself. Stan starts talking, but you can't pay attention because of the noise of the bus, and you're trying not to let go of the bar in front of you.
After what seems like forever, the bus stops.
"Here's your stop! Enjoy!" Stan yells to you as you leave. You look over at your mom, and she looks pale.
"That was fun!" your dad yells as all three of you step onto the sidewalk. You look behind you and the bus is gone.
