The Engineer's Obsession

Chapter 7

A week has passed since that day and I've been living in this small cabin with added furnishings.

Heisenberg and his minions brought them here, how thoughtful of him. Sometimes I just kinda get annoyed by how he treat me like nothing but he make amends thru gifts like these furnitures. I don't get him sometimes.

By the help of the Duke, I've started raising chickens in a small place outside the cabin. I also started raising crops to keep me alive for God knows how long I'll stay here.

I've been thinking a lot about what that little girl told me a week ago. Do I want to escape? Maybe.

Right now, I'm hanging the sheets and clothes I washed. I got a little lot more clothes than what I wore when I was kidnapped here.

"What are you thinking?" I jumped by the sudden voice I heard, she's here again standing right in front of me.

"How and when did you come here? Leave me alone" frustrated as I was, blurted out.

"You know I can help you escape" again with the sinister giggle she has.

"I don't even know you so why should I trust you?" I raised an eyebrow and continued with my doing my chores.

"Because we're sisters!" She smiled.

"Again with that, we're not sisters!" Can she just stop saying that repeatedly?

"You might not remember but, we are sisters!" the pertinacity of this child.

I sighed knowing I won't win an argument with a little kid who's claiming to be my sister.

"Do you live around here kid? Let me take you back to your parents" I suggest.

She laughed, this kid is getting on my nerves.

"I don't live here, I live inside you. I live inside your head. I can't hurt you and you can't hurt me" I frowned upon what I had heard.

"I'm just being a good girl so mama would not get mad at me anymore, I've changed a bit" seeing her, I don't think I want to believe.

"Who's your mama?" I asked.

"OUR mama" she emphasized the word 'our'.

"Alright, I get it. Who's OUR mama" I asked once again.

"Mama's name is Mia Winters and Papa is Ethan Winters" she grinned.

Where have I heard those name before? I swear I heard it before, I just can't remember.

"Alright, and how would you help me escape this place if you're only in my head?" I might bargain with her.

"I know this place from that witch" she gritted her teeth. How could such a small child use some inappropriate words. Kids these days, I shook my head.

"So does that mean, you're connected to mother Miranda?" This somehow got interesting.

"You are too!" I frowned again, this delirious child.

"If you go to straight to that woods and walk far more, you'll get to a river" she pointed the direction to where I could escape.

"After crossing the river, I'll tell you more. But that's if you'll believe me" she smirked.

That's not a bad deal, right? Should I try it? What if I got caught by Heisenberg, will he kill me? Best thing's not to be caught.

"Alright that'll do but, I'm not planning to escape. Just lead me to the village" I agreed.

After hanging the clothes to dry, I went inside and wore my brown hood. I picked up my bag of Leis that I earned while trading with Duke.

I followed the little girl to the woods just outside the cabin's fence. The woods always gives me the creeps whenever I'm picking berries.

"By the way, what's your name kid?" Out of curiosity, I asked even though she told me before but I just can't make something out of those chopped lines.

"*v**, I told you that before" she scrunched her forehead, she really looks shady.

I still can't make something out of what she said but I'll just call her V because that's the only thing I can hear.

"Yeah I know, but I'll just call you V for short" I sighed.

We came to the end of the woods. The blinding rays of the sun welcomed us, as well as the cold waters of the river.

I can see the other side though I don't have anywhere to cross. I don't know how to swim if I happen to fall to the water.

"The water's shallow here!" She shouted. She was just right beside me then she teleported there? Goodness.

"Trust me, I am your sister after all" she smiled innocently. That scares me more than how she would normally smile like a devil.

I've come so far after all, would I back down? I ran towards what she claim a shallow part of the river.

I sat and checked how deep it is with my feet. Surprisingly, the girl was right. The water's just below my knee. I should still be careful though because the flow of the water is a bit strong.

I tried to cross the river carefully. Thank God I managed to go to the other side. I'm excited to see people, I've only been seeing Heisenberg and his minions.

"There's a secret cave here" she indicated. Is this cave even safe?

Do I have much of any choice here? If I climb up I could fall and die, or if I made it successfully I might be seen. I saw that there are altars there, is that some sort of a ceremony site?

I walked carefully inside the cave, it's just a bit muddy but there's nothing out of ordinary. Good thing I brought a lighter because it's kinda dark inside.

After minutes of walking, I came across a branch road. There's no sign of where the paths would lead me.

"Hey V? Where are you? I need some help here" I just now realized that she's not with me.

Should I go back? That girl tricked me into this right? Maybe I should, Heisenberg's gonna kill me.

I tried going back but I can't find the exit, what's with this cave? It always leads me to the same area. But I don't know which one is which.

I spent the time thinking of which path will I go to. From what I can remember, the village would be north east from where I came from. Should I go to the right, or left?

I decided to go to the right since it's heading to the north east side. I hope I chose the right path.

After 30 minutes, I can see light from outside the tunnel. I ran outside, I was glad I could get out of that cave.

What comes to my surprise is that there's a huge castle right in front of my eyes.

"Whoah" I stared in awe. It looks creepily cool, I've never seen a castle before, now I'm seeing not just a castle but a really big one.

Just like a little girl, I tried to explore the place. This place is huge, I wonder whose property is this?

I stumbled upon a door, I opened it and went inside. The interior looks so fancy and really really cool. My heart was full of excitement, my childhood dream came true.

My mind was simply wandering, still can't believe where I am that I forgot this whole place is not ordinary.

"Well, well, I knew there was a rat inside my castle. I never knew the rat would be so shameless to wander while the master is still inside"

I was frozen solid to where I'm standing. That voice... I know that voice. I turned around and saw the tall beautiful woman from before.

"Daughters, can you tie her up. We'll have a feast this evening" after she called upon her daughters, they were right beside me giggling before I could even react.

"Mm yes, a rat" is what I heard before I was hit behind and blacked out.
